The Best of 2011, and a 2012 Forecast

Well happy new year everyone!  I hope 2012 is off to a great start for all of you.  I’ve enjoyed my little break but am looking forward to writing again. I missed you all!

And I know I’m a little late to the “best of” posts, but better late than never right? :)  When I looked back at old posts to write this one, it was fun to see what all got accomplished last year though. So without further adieu, here are some of my favorite projects completed last year.

$20 Beadboard Bar

Master Bedroom Makeover (although it has changed again, which I’ll show you soon.)

I painted about 50 paint swatches on the wall

We got hardwood floors installed (still in love with them!)

Living Room Makeover with Gallery Wall and Board and Batten

Paneled Wall in the Boy’s Room (and I promise I’ll show you the room reveal soon!)

Breakfast Room Makeover and New Paint in Kitchen

Crown Molding above the Doors for Charm

Patio Makeover

I made a yarn wreath

I got my hands on some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and redid our Dresser

I showed you all how I make money blogging.

And lastly, the biggest project probably completed last year was that we made a baby!

I’m due in July and we are really excited.  And the first trimester is over and I feel great now!!  But I do sleep a TON now and go to bed at 9pm, soooo…..

Now for a little 2012 forecast….I’m not going to post resolutions/goals or anything like that.  But I did decide that with this new year, less time will be spent on the computer and sometimes wasting days away because I’m doing blog stuff blog or what have you.  Not that I don’t want to do read blogs and do more projects, because believe me there are tons of things I could do!  I just am not going to put pressure on myself this year to “get that project done so I can post about it.”  So I won’t be busting out a new project every week is what I’m trying to say. :)  I hope you all are ok with that.  There are still other things I would like to talk about so I hope you will stick around!  And who knows, since I just said all that maybe I’ll have a new project every day. Haha. And Instead of saying to myself I only have 6 more months left to get the house like I want it before the new baby comes, I’m saying to myself “I want these 6 months before the new baby arrives to be spent treasuring our little girl like never before.”

My blog would be nothing without all of you and I am so grateful.  Lots of great opportunities came from blogging last year, and I am so looking forward to what 2012 has in store!

xxoo,

Decorchick!

I love your living room makeover the best. The walls are to die for and you have been one busy girl. I agree with you that all of us blog women should let up on the pressure to keep creating just for the sake of our blogs. You have taken a step back and that is good. We all need to do the same. Life is not about blogs, but about family first, blogs second. Congrats by the way.

I think that you have the perfect perspective! It is very easy to put uneccesary pressure on ourselves.
So glad to hear that you’re feeling better :)

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

How could you NOT with these gorgeous colorings?! A red and blue Merle are so unique, and they are the sweetest!🐶🐶

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
