I decided to ditch the new year’s resolutions because they will in fact be forgotten. But the one thing that won’t be forgotten are God’s promises.
2013 Year In Review. It Was The Best One Yet!
Hi guys! I’ve missed you all, but have thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas break and holiday. When I was getting this post ready and going through all of 2013’s blog posts/projects, man, it was a good year! We accomplished quite a LOT I think. Ask me how and I can’t tell you that, but all I know is that we did it. :)
Here are my top 13 projects and posts from 2013, and reader favorites. And besides getting some room makeovers done and other projects, 2013 was kind of the year to makeover myself as well.

How To Install The Flow Wall Garage System
Hey guys, my hubby is posting today since he’s the genius behind making our garage amazing, so enjoy! Hello everyone. I’m Emily’s husband and she asked me to share with y’all my experience installing our Flow Wall storage and organization system. (Please see the makeover post for the before and afters) I’ll be the first one to tell you that I shudder at the thought of putting things together. I have spent countless hours putting together things like swedish furniture, shelves and entertainment systems, staring blankly at hundreds of parts that look NOTHING like the crude illustrations on the poorly written instructions I am trying to decipher. For an ADD/OCD person like me, I’m not lovin’ it. I am very pleased to announce that the Flow Wall system was the easiest, most well documented system I have ever had the pleasure to build. I was left with a sense of pride and accomplishment when I was finished, which is very rare for my OCD.
A Few Of My Favorite Things
Hi all! I get to share some of my favorite things with you all today, courtesy of Melissa from 320 Sycamore’s ever popular My Favorite Things Party! I love sharing things I love at any time of the year, but I don’t talk about makeup and clothes here that often. And since I am a girl, I do love those things. I love a lot of things actually. It was hard narrowing down my top 10! If you are coming from Infarrantly Creative, welcome! I’m so glad you are here to see what I found intriguing this past year. :)
And now presenting my top 10 favorite things from 2013 in no particular order…
I Need Your Votes!!
I’m cutting to the chase y’all, hope you don’t mind my bluntness. Remember that Design Dash event I did with La-Z-Boy where I worked my tail off for 2 days designing the room with the coral sofa? This room…
Please vote for my room and the coral sofa HERE. I will love you forever!!! Thanks so much everyone.
Christmas Home Tour
Come on in, grab a cup of coffee or cocoa, and enjoy the Christmas home tour! I’ll start out by saying our house is never this clean, things were shoved out of the way to take pictures, we don’t have a perfect home, and it took days to clean up just so I could take a few photos. :)
Ok, whew, glad that’s out of the way…
Here’s a snippet of what’s to come.
I Had a Bright Idea! | A Holiday Hutch
I really did have a bright idea. And an original one (at least that I know of) and it really just hit me one day so I went for it! I love how it turned out too since I typically don’t decorate my hutch in the office much. I knew I wanted to do something in there, and UPS has been visiting here ummm, quite a bit…..and I am sure you can see where this is going if I have a lot of empty boxes laying around right?
So here is what I came up with for our holiday hutch.
The All White AND Flocked Christmas Tree!
Oh happy day y’all I get to show you all our Christmas tree for this year! I had dreams this year of having an all white tree, but it couldn’t be just white…it needed to be white and flocked. Which isn’t the easiest to find. Last year we did get a real tree, and it was flocked and it was beautiful too. But I just wanted all white this year, and an artificial one. And this is the new beauty.
Just Bing It
We have a lot of good shopping in Houston. High end to low end, you name it, we probably have it. Except we don’t have In and Out Burger. What a shame. I love shopping though, duh, and I love finding new resources on good places to do it at! You all know I love thrift stores and antique shopping, so when asked if I wanted to try out the Bing Smart Search app I said sure, sign me up!
I wanted to get inspired and find some new antique stores in the Houston area so that’s what I searched for. The interface was really easy and it came up with pretty results!
Simple Christmas Mantel
Things are moving quickly around here in the Christmas decorating department! The house is about finished, just still trying to clean up some of the clutter still. But anywho, today I am showing you our Christmas mantel for this year, and I am really digging it. It’s simple, yet grand, and sometimes simple and grand is all you need.
