Well this is kind of old school, but also kind of new school because of the equipment used, but stay with me here. As you all know, we have been working feverishly in my daughter’s bedroom trying to give her a makeover. We needed some art and I wanted something different, so that brilliant DecorMan of mine said we should… View Post
When Too Much Storage Is A Bad Thing
We have a few issues around here. Storage. We aren’t really lacking it either because I’m always trying to create it. But I am always looking for pieces of furniture that will make good storage pieces. Why? Well because I thought having TONS of storage would be a good thing. But too much storage I have found out causes 2 frustrated adults searching for things they don’t remember where they put them.
For instance, our dresser in the foyer is filled with random crap stuff.
Homeschooling On My Mind
It’s one of those decisions every parent faces when their kids hit age 5 or 6. Which school will they attend? Do we send them to public school, pay for private school, or homeschool? And many people start thinking of these types of things much earlier, like when they are 3 and 4 years old. Especially if they know they want them to attend a private school because they need to get on “the list.” You know, that exclusive list that is ultimately going to cost a fortune for you each month.
It’s a tough decision. And one that we are facing here soon, like this Fall.
It’s funny because 10 years ago if you would have asked me if I would be a homeschooling mama I would have laughed in your face. Loudly.
Powder Bathroom Makeover Reveal!
Dream Bathroom Makeover Giveaway!
Little did you all know I have been working on a bathroom makeover over here! I’ve had a lot of things going on actually. And on overload. But that’s a good thing right? Well anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever even shown you all this bathroom. It’s the powder bathroom (that is by the mudroom) that was still under the curse of builder beige.
Anyway, I am going to show you a sneak peek of the bathroom makeover now, and on Monday you will see this room in it’s entirety with plenty of before and afters and I’m so excited about it!
Here’s a peek of the new vanity, and you can enter the giveaway HERE.
Top Loader Washing Machine Update
Part of the goal for 2014 is to be sure and update you all on projects and other random things I have talked about here. I just want to be better at that. And one of the many questions I receive weekly is how I am liking the LG Wave HE Top loader machine!
IKEA White Paint Formula
We’ve accumulated a few pieces of IKEA’s furniture pieces as of late, and I needed the matching paint for it so I can do a few customizations to these pieces. A few secret projects up my sleeve. Don’t you hate that? Anyway, I decided to do the hard work for you and take a piece of the furniture into Sherwin Williams so they can color match it up. You’re welcome.
How To Use Essential Oils | Day in The Life of An Oiler
Call me crunchy, call me crazy, or call me cookoo. But I really can’t get enough of these essential oils. So much in fact that I agreed to participate in my bestie’s (Myra) Day in the Life of an Oiler blogging series! And if you are visiting from The Ordinary Chaos, welcome, I’m so glad you are here! Continue reading to see my daily routine and how I use my essential oils.
Layered Rugs
Hi guys! Hope you had a great weekend. You all seemed to really like our new cowhide rug layered on top of our big area rug in the living room, so I wanted to gather a few more images of this look from around the web. I think it’s such a great idea because it can save you money by not having to buy another huge area rug, but instead just change up the look by buying a smaller rug to place on top and hide that messy stain. ;) And of course because it’s pretty!
Friday Finds–Cooking With Cast Iron!
I hope you’ve all had a great week! It has been nutty around here, and I’ll just say we’ve been using our essential oils like crazy! Mercy. Anyway, I’m sure that one thing we all have in common besides pretty home stuff is good cooking! Ok, maybe not all of you, but some of you? Or maybe you want to cook more, cook better, or just have pretty cookware to make it look like you cook amazing food? Well, that’s cool too.
Cooking in cast iron is the best way to cook I think, and I just loooooove my dutch ovens. I have 2. And I wouldn’t mind having more. My dutch ovens are cast iron coated with enamel, so when I saw MyHabit had great sales on these for a few days, I had to show you.
A Cowhide Rug Accident With a Happy Ending
This Is Going To Be A Challenge
Several months ago on a whim, I videotaped my 4 year old asking what she would like in her room. Her room that I need to redo. And this is her response. She’s the cutest thing ever by the way. And if you can’t see the video below, here is the link to it.
