The Staircase Makeover!

Well the stairwell wall is finally complete!  Hip hip hooray! Let’s take a look at the before photos shall we? The above picture is the wall to the right of the staircase, but still the same wall. And now….the after! Ahhh, don’t you love moulding?? We continued the rail to that little wall behind the cabinet and I painted it… View Post

The Stairs: Picture Frame Moulding

I wanted to do a separate post just about the picture moulding, because it’s kind of technical so it deserves to be talked about on its own. :) When you are trying to do wainscoting up a staircase, you are going to have odd angles and cuts.  But this new little gadget my Dad introduced me to is so cool…. What Happens When Your Dad Takes Over Your Projects…

Let me begin by saying I had made a little progress starting a gallery wall on our big empty staircase wall, but I just wasn’t feeling it.  It needed more than just pictures, so what’s the solution?  Moulding, and lots of it. So, I had told my Dad my ideas and plans for our staircase wall, and the next thing… View Post

A Dining Room Turned Office

*Update–the office now has wood floors!* Dining rooms are so overrated right? :)  Since I had been wanting to redo the dining room for quite some time now, the hubby and I decided to turn it into an office.  Because in all honesty, the formal dining room was used as an actual dining room maybe  twice since we’ve lived here?… View Post

Bye Bye Brown Chandy

Or should I say “Shandy” because that’s how it sounds when you say chandelier for short?  Um, anyway… After we got everything in our new office, the old dining room chandelier was just a major eye sore. It was big, bulky, and just not for an office obviously.  So, this is what we replaced it with… Yes, track lighting!  And… View Post

I Promise I’ve Been Working on Something…

Well I was until these crazy flu-like symptoms started up on Sunday night. Grrrr.  We’ve all been sick around here, including our little girl.  So needless to say, I haven’t accomplished much this week except eating pints of Blue Bell ice cream. :(  BUT, I will show you what I am going to try and attempt to finish today… The fake… View Post

The Famous Pantry Carousels…Not Just For Your Pantry: Under Sink Makeover

I had another horribly unorganized place in our home…under the kitchen sink.  I was scared every time I opened those cabinets.  I was afraid something might come crawling out.  Luckily though, that never happened. :) Soooo, remember the carousels my Dad put in our pantry makeover and he also talked about them here?  Well, I finally got him over here to… View Post

Crushin’ on Quatrefoil

I’m sure you’ve seen this design everywhere by now right?  Do you love it as much as I do? I really would like a rug for the new dining room, and I think a rug like this would look great. Oh gosh I just love it!  It is from Ballard’s and I SO wish it came in gray or black…. View Post

Another Easy Update: Under Cabinet Lighting

We’ve been wanting to put in lights under our kitchen cabinets since we’ve moved here.  Then we saw them in our neighbor’s home recently, and I went out and copied them exactly.  Thank you neighbors! :) We used a Hampton Bay light kit from Home Depot and it was $44 for 6 lights.  Not bad!  And yep, Nester was right…more… View Post

A Coat Closet No More.

I am on an organizing kick.  And I like it. The other day I opened this closet we have downstairs by the powder room. Here is the bottom of the floor once I removed the coats. And here is the top of this closet.  It goes up really high. So, as you can see, this coat closet has turned into… View Post

DIY Fall Topiaries…A Michael’s Knock Off

I needed to get my craft mojo back, so while I was shopping at Michael’s the other day, I saw these… They were pretty, but they were $19.99, and I knew they could be easily replicated, and even a little cuter! :) So I bought all the stuff to make them. 2 little flower pots, moss, styrofoam balls, 2 wooden… View Post

All You Wanted to Know About the Pantry Carousels.

Monday I showed you all my pantry makeover.  Thank you so much for all of the comments!!  It’s so exciting that y’all get all giddy about a new pantry too! :) The carousels that my Dad made were a huge hit.  I knew they would be and so I wanted to devote a separate post to them.  I know some… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
