Fall Has Arrived in Our Home

Well, sort of.  I haven’t gone crazy…yet.  But I couldn’t help myself.  Our house just screams Fall with the colors we have throughout the downstairs, and it’s my favorite time of year to decorate.  I just love all of the warm colors.  So sure, why not start decorating mid-August?  :) Here are some of the “new and improved” Dollar Store… View Post

The Evolution of Our Dining Room

This post takes a lot of courage y’all.  It should be quite humorous for you, embarrassing for me.  Just remember that everyone starts from somewhere and has to make do with what they have, and people’s decorating styles change okay? :) Here is how our dining room looked for about a year after we moved into this beautiful beige home…. Multipurpose Room Progress: Board and Batten!

To satisfy my love of all kinds of different styles and colors, I decided to do board and batten on the one big wall in our upstairs multipurpose room. :)  The upstairs will have a different vibe than the downstairs, and I think that’s so fun!  Probably a design rule no-no, but I don’t follow rules. :) I know I… View Post

I Think The Dollar Stores Are Reading Blogs…

So after TDC (Thrifty Decor Chick, not Texas Department of Corrections) made my dollar store hurricanes, she posted that she found the flared hurricanes, that look just like the Williams-Sonoma ones!  Hers are gorgeous on her new buffet table redo!  I ran to the Dollar Store just like she said to do.  I think I even went the very next… View Post

What I’ve Been Working On…

Well, this is our craft room/game room/playroom/office in all it’s glory. And as Annette commented on another post, I am stealing her idea and going to call it the “multipurpose room.”  :-) So as you can see, I really took a lot of time cleaning up the space before I snapped photos.  Oh well, real life. ;)  Here are some… View Post

Are You Easily Influenced by Decorating Trends?

I’m just curious everyone’s thoughts on this, and how it affects your decorating style at your own home?  Maybe it’s just me, but when I see all of these beautiful white rooms all across the internet, I want it too!  BUT, then I have to remember me, and my style, and remember that I am a color gal.  I love… View Post

Crown Molding in Dining Room w/Tutorial

Well me and the hubs did a DIY project all by ourselves!  We installed crown in our dining room.  It was actually very easy, inexpensive, and anyone can do this, trust me.  I love doing things to our home that adds value, and architectural features definitely do that.  I’ll give a brief tutorial as I go. Here is our dining… View Post

Winner of the $50 Visa Gift Card…

Thank you to everyone who entered to win!  There were 433 entries…WOW!!  Y’all must have really wanted some cash.  I don’t blame you, I’d be all over this one too if it meant $50 extra dollars in my pocket.  Y’alls comments were really hilarious, and I’m so glad the majority of you would use it on more important things other… View Post

A Cute Little $5 Bench

I found this bench at the thrift store for $5.  Can you believe that??  I thought it was so adorable, but my husband, ummm notsomuch.  He seriously wanted to put it by the curb for trash pick up.  Shame on him! And I’m sorry, this has to probably be one of the worst “before” photos in all of blogland, but… View Post

A Rosette Wreath

I had a few rosette flowers left over from when I put them on our lamps in the master bedroom.  I thought I would put them to good use and make a wreath!  For the tutorial on how to make these easy and lovely things, click here. First, I started out with a small foam wreath from the dollar store…. View Post

Recent Thrifty Treasures

I found all of these things last week at the thrift store and resale shop, but just haven’t had time to post about them yet.  Oy! Isn’t that little shutter shelf cute?  It was $1.  Score!  Everything in that picture was $9 all together.  I love that wreath too and it will look cute when I tie it up with… View Post

And We Partied…

Sorry this isn’t a home decor project (but I did make a few crafty things so that counts), but several of you wanted to see Emma’s birthday party so here it is.  This was another kind of project in itself! The theme was kind of princessy, polka dots, and hot pink. I asked people to wear pink if they had… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
