An Easy Solution to My Dead Plants

Well I let my other plants on the front porch go to pot too (hehe get it?) So in order to fix that, here is what I did. I took some moss and pretended it was hay, some fake Fall leaves, sat a pumpkin on top, tied a ribbon, and called it a masterpiece. Brilliant right? :) Oh yea, and… View Post

Feeling Discouraged

This will be a bit of a pity party post, sorry.  I’m discouraged about our dining room.  And I’ll go ahead and tell you that we have turned it into an office, so there, the secret is out.  :) I REALLY wanted gray, as that is what I am loving at the moment.  But will I still love it many… View Post

Need a Good Chiropractor?

I know this is a decorating blog, but this is a special post and calls for celebration.  So I hope you will celebrate with me!  My brother-in-law Greg just opened his own chiropractic office, Green Chiropractic.  His office is located in Houston, TX (at 43rd and Ella to be exact), and yesterday was the grand opening!  After several years of… View Post

My Fake Mantel

Yesterday I showed you all the awesome mantel I scored at the Pottery Barn outlet.  Now today, I will show you her all fancied up for Fall.  :)  I just want to kiss it! Do you want to kiss it too?  Too bad! :) I am SO in love with having a mantel to decorate.  And the best part is… View Post

A Spontaneous Trip

Over the weekend we were headed to the local outlet mall to buy me some clothes.  But somehow we did something totally out of the norm and took a little 3 hour road trip to the BIG outlet mall, with baby and all.  We literally did a u-turn on the freeway and just started driving the other way on the… View Post

All You Wanted to Know About Gray Paint

It’s a very tricky color.  I could end this post with just that line and that would give you enough information.  But, I won’t do that to you and will tell you another little paint journey I just had. Maybe I should rename this post “when bad things happen to good people.”  Because I am a good person and this… View Post

Fabric Wall Art, and Sneak Peek

I know framing fabric is nothing new for many people, but I finally just did it yesterday .  I frame everything else, so why not fabric right? I bought a yard of this fabric at Ikea. It’s a deep charcoal gray color.  I just love it.  They have some pretty cool fabrics at Ikea. It’s a nice change from my… View Post

Fall Cloches, Apothecary Jars, and All Things Pretty

It’s cloche party time again over at A Stroll Thru Life!  Thank you for hosting the great party Marty (that rhymes). I just love seeing everyone else’s pretty displays! Today I’ll show you my cloches, apothecary jars, and hurricane vases.  Some of them you’ve already seen, some not.  And for the first time in my blogging history, I think I’ll… View Post

Do You Notice Anything Different…

About this picture? If you guessed that my chairs are missing you’d be correct.  I sold them on Craigslist for a nice chunk of change. :)  I did keep one chair just because they are SUCH great chairs.  I can always cover it.  I still need to sell the table. Remember when I said I have big dreams for our… View Post

More Fall Decorating

Real original title huh?  I wanted to show you what I’ve done to the table in our entryway.  Nothing earth shattering, just a little spruce up for Fall. :) I did Melissa at 320 Sycamore’s version of the dollar store hurricanes, and I’m in love.  I know y’all are probably sick of hearing those three little words, but I can’t… View Post

A Coat Closet No More.

I am on an organizing kick.  And I like it. The other day I opened this closet we have downstairs by the powder room. Here is the bottom of the floor once I removed the coats. And here is the top of this closet.  It goes up really high. So, as you can see, this coat closet has turned into… View Post

The Great Pantry Makeover

Well, well well!  I never thought I could love a pantry as much as I do now.  Actually, I never thought I would even give the pantry a makeover.  After all, it’s just a pantry.  But boy oh boy, how life changing this pantry makeover was.  Seriously. Let me first give props and a BIG thank you to my Dad…. View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
