Pretty Book Decor {A Ballard Knock-Off}

Everyone loves decorating with books.  It’s an inexpensive decor item, especially when you buy them at the thrift stores. As I was admiring the new Ballard’s catalog the other day, I came across these Antique Book Bundles they are selling. How easy to recreate those right?  And it won’t cost you $18 or $25 like they are charging for a… View Post

Embracing The Wood {And A Mini Kitchen Makeover}

Happy new year everyone!  The new year around here is bringing some much needed de-cluttering and organizing and it feels so good.  I am determined to get rid of a lot of stuff that I am no longer using, accessorize less, and just enjoy simplicity.  I still will have accessories, but hopefully in a less cluttery way.  We’ll see how… View Post

I Want To Do This. Should I?

Isn’t that paneling gorgeous?  That image is from Phillip Sides who does lovely work. And I am thinking of doing it to this big wall… Sorry for the Christmas photos…it was raining and dark ALL day yesterday.  All Christmas decor is stored and put away and it feels so good. :) But my question is, should I do the above… View Post

Christmas Home Tour

Greetings!  Today I’m going to take you on a little Christmas tour of our home, and this should be the last of the Christmas posts? But I can’t promise that just yet. :) Knock knock, anybody home?  Yes, come on in! To the right we have the staircase… And to the left of the entry we have the office. I… View Post

Festive Glass Displays

Do you like pretty things in glass too?  I sure do!  Although, I was a bit lazy decorating my cloches and apothecary jars for Christmas this year.  I’m kind of *ahem* tired of decorating right now.  I bet you can’t believe I just said that huh?  I just went with the easy stuff mostly, which were ornaments and other sparkly… View Post

Ye Ole Christmas Tree(s)

I needed some kind of different title, because I figured a lot of people would title their tree post “Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,” like I was going to do. :) Anywho, here’s our tree! It’s your traditional red and gold which is my favorite. :)  The lights do all sorts of tricks and go to all white lights… And… View Post

A Magical Christmas Village

I love Christmas.  It’s been really exciting decorating this year.  Maybe because I have a blog now to share everything. :)  But my husband has been pumped this year too, and even has been helping me get things situated.  What a guy. :) I really wanted a nativity set to display this year, but couldn’t find one I loved.  Then… View Post

Deck the Mantel

Ho ho ho!  It’s definitely beginning to feel like Christmas now.  We’ve been busy ever since Friday trying to get all of the Christmas decorations up, but I’ve learned when you have a toddler, you have to do it in increments. :) But I did manage to get the mantel complete so that’s what I’ll be showing you today! In… View Post

The Staircase Makeover!

Well the stairwell wall is finally complete!  Hip hip hooray! Let’s take a look at the before photos shall we? The above picture is the wall to the right of the staircase, but still the same wall. And now….the after! Ahhh, don’t you love moulding?? We continued the rail to that little wall behind the cabinet and I painted it… View Post

Do You Polyvore?

Have you heard of Polyvore before? I hadn’t until recently.  It’s an online site that lets you create design and fashion boards, for free!  There are thousands of pieces already uploaded on Polyvore’s site, so you won’t have a problem finding anything to create your own board, but you can still upload your own things too, if you wish. You… View Post

Bye Bye Brown Chandy

Or should I say “Shandy” because that’s how it sounds when you say chandelier for short?  Um, anyway… After we got everything in our new office, the old dining room chandelier was just a major eye sore. It was big, bulky, and just not for an office obviously.  So, this is what we replaced it with… Yes, track lighting!  And… View Post

I Promise I’ve Been Working on Something…

Well I was until these crazy flu-like symptoms started up on Sunday night. Grrrr.  We’ve all been sick around here, including our little girl.  So needless to say, I haven’t accomplished much this week except eating pints of Blue Bell ice cream. :(  BUT, I will show you what I am going to try and attempt to finish today… The fake… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
