This Was a Beast…

to hang up.  This is what we’ve been working on this week in the living room. And when I say we, I mean my husband and I.  So excuse my absence this week please.  I’ve been doing about a million other things too and having fun with the little girl.  But I have some goooood stuff to show you soon…don’t… View Post

The Ottoman Chronicles

Remember last week when I posted about my cute little foot stool and the other new additions?  Well, that day my when post went up, that same evening I was out shopping with my soon to be sis-in-law for wedding stuff.  And we stopped into T.J. Maxx because she needed something.  Me of course wandered on over to the home… View Post

Plantation Dreaming

You know what I think is beautiful?  Plantation shutters.  The big fat wide kind.  And I want them, like yesterday.  :) We were at a friend’s house the other night (Hi F.M.!) and they had really big 2-story windows kind of like we have in their living room.  But the difference in their windows is that they have the plantation… View Post

Some New Additions

Hi everyone, thank you so much for the sweet comments on the patio!  We sure are enjoying the outdoor space now. It’s like a whole other room to decorate! :) Today I thought I would share with you all a few new things I’ve added to our living room.  Not huge changes or anything, but I thought they were worth… View Post

Chandelier Shopping

To finish our breakfast room’s little redo, a new light fixture is in order.  It’s time for the current bo*b light fixture to go! :) I’ve been shopping around on Overstock (they have the best deals on lighting), and I think I’ve settled on this one because I always keep coming back to it. It’s modern, but not too modern,… View Post

Faux Coral Outdoor Centerpiece

Well, luckily this week I haven’t had any more cabinet disasters, and that’s because I’ve been working outside on the patio!  I can’t wait to show you all the full reveal of that, but today I’m going to share a very simple and quick little centerpiece I put together for the patio. Isn’t that piece of coral pretty??  Well, I’m… View Post

Cute and Cheap Rug Alert!

The other day I was browsing around Lowe’s and came across this. It’s a 5×7 jute rug that has a trellis/geometric pattern to it, and it was only $34!! Yes, THIRTY-FOUR dollars. :)  I’ve been looking for one to go in our breakfast room for a while, so I was so happy to come across this.  And the green goes… View Post

Where Does All That Stuff Go?

Have you ever wondered where all of the bloggers put their “stuff” a/k/a decor and accessories when they aren’t using them? Well, I always wondered that when I started blogging, especially for the ones who are always making cute crafts.  I’d always think “where in the world can they store all of this stuff?!”  Hence the reason I’ve slowed down… View Post

Redecorating Above the Cabinets

Some people don’t like anything above their kitchen cabinets, and some do.  I happen to like a little something up there.  But what I previously had up there wasn’t working for me anymore. Here is the before (with the kitchen still painted Tobacco Road): What was bothering me about those dishes and pitchers up there is that they seemed a… View Post

A Sea of Glass…The Summer Mantel

Y’all know how much I LOVE redoing our mantel right?  Well it was time for another switcheroo since summer is almost here (yay!), and so I wanted to bring in some bright cheery colors, and since I can’t get enough of yellow these days, yellow and aqua is what landed on the mantel this time. And what’s even better is… View Post

So Long Tobacco Road. We Had a Good Run.

Well, I’m sure you all saw this one coming.  I had said I wasn’t going to repaint the kitchen until I stained our cabinets darker, but yea, my paint addiction kicked in at the end of last week and I just went for it. And as silly as it may sound, painting over Tobacco Road was a little sentimental for… View Post

Welcome, A’la Mode!

Y’all are in for such a treat today!  I met Shelli (I think on Twitter?), went to her blog and fell in love.  It’s jaw-dropping gorgeous.  I asked Shelli to do a little guest post so I could show off her home to all of you and so you can get to know the girl behind the blog.  She’s been blogging… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
