What Did We Do Before Pinterest?

Ever wonder what everyone did before Pinterest came around? Oh yea, we probably had lives! But really, do you ever think about it? Do you ever think about how blogging as a whole changed completely? And for you readers who don’t have a blog, it’s different for you too. Maybe you see all of these crazy “pin it” buttons around everyone’s blog posts and wonder what in the world is going on. I know I did at first.

But there’s another aspect of Pinterest I want to talk about today and not how blogging is so different these days (even though that’s the truth). But why does it seem everything is Pinterest-perfect these days?

Life After Google Reader?

Well sadly, the death of Google Reader is happening on July 1. That’s a week away. Sadness. Deep sadness. Myself like many of you use Google Reader to read your favorite blogs quickly and see who has a new post etc. Why Google wants to take it away is beyond my comprehension but they are. Nothing we can do about it but cry. I hate change but life must go on. So what are the alternatives?

Toes In The Sand

Hey guys since the nursery makeover wore me out so much (haha), for the rest of the week we decided to crash my sister’s family beach vacation! We are thoughtful like that. So I’ll be seeing lots of this…

Baby Girl Nursery Reveal!

Ahhh finally!! I’m SO excited to show you all our little girl’s nursery reveal today! I think this has to be one of my most favorite rooms I’ve completed to date. As you might remember, I decided to go a whole other direction in this room a while back. I finally had a clear vision of the perfect smokey grey paint, paired with soft pale pinks, whites, and touches of gold throughout. And that’s exactly what the end result came to be.

Our Vegetable Garden!!

Oh man I still can’t believe I have a post titled that. Really? Me? A vegetable garden? And it’s thriving? Well it’s true. It’s always been a dream (one of those dreams you think will never happen) of mine to grow some of my own fruits and veggies. Since the weight loss, I still eat tons of vegetables and fruit, and if you follow me on Instagram (@decorchick1) you know I am part of an organic co-op where I get an awesome variety of fruits and veggies every 2 weeks…

2 months later, and it’s still hard. So very har 2 months later, and it’s still hard. So very hard. It is the strangest, most emptiest feeling one could have, and one that not everyone understands.

Tonight was the 3rd griefshare meeting that I’ve attended, and that does help to be around others who have lost someone close. But it is also so painful hearing their stories. And it’s a night during the week that I’m forced to think about how he’s no longer here. It’s helped me to realize all of the thoughts and actions we have are normal, and the things we do that are odd to others, are actually part of the process.

I haven’t been able to wear these shirts of his yet (he wore them every single day. The red one was his “fancy” one), but I’m glad I have them. It’s just really crappy I can’t see him in them any longer. 💔

This is a pain like no other. I watched him take This is a pain like no other.

I watched him take his final breath at 7:24 this morning. The scent of him is still so palpable.

Gone too soon, and years stolen from his wife and grandkids.

We live in the same small neighborhood, right around the corner on the next street. Now the girls can’t ride their 4-wheelers to go see him. We can’t just swing by to pick him up. He can’t go on our walks anymore. There are lots of no-longers, and it is crushing my heart.

Who am I going to call now when I have a question on how to fix something? He had a solution for everything usually saving us hundreds of dollars. Everything was fixable to him, rather than hiring someone. And often he would find the answer on YouTube.

Who am I going to text with when the Astros make a good or bad play during the next World Series?

I want to hear his voice again. I want to go over and cut his hair again. I want to make him another pie for his birthday and Father’s Day.

It hurts so much.

I love you Daddy.
