Rustic and Textured Fall Mantel

Woohoo who’s ready for Fall?! I know I’ve been talking about Fall since the beginning of the month, soooo, you know I am. :) This year for the Fall mantel I decided I was really digging textures and the rustic look, so that’s how the mantel ended up. Quite a difference from last year’s gold and glam mantel! But something about burlap and pretty textures always draw me in so I went for it and came up with this.

I made a burlap deco mesh wreath for the mantel, similar to the one on our door that my cousin did. Love it! You can see that tutorial here.

Then when my cousin was here she made these little thingies for the end of the mantel.

I’m not sure what to call them so let’s call them garland alternatives? I don’t know but I like them!

I had the vases already from last year, and of course my old winder and shutters, and I pulled out my giant acorns again and put on a pretty serving dish.

I did buy this gold mercury glass pumpkin at Homegoods though. Couldn’t resist.

I have another one just like it living on our entry table for that Fall display. :)

I made a very simple Fall banner and used a stencil I already had and some bronze craft paint. Then connected it all with a little twine. So easy!

And that’s it! Whatcha think? It feels so cozy to me. I wish you all could come have some coffee or tea with me and sit by our fake mantel and enjoy it with me. :)

Love it – I love using natural, neutral colors for fall too. So pretty. And I love your burr oak acorns! I stalk my neigbor’s tree every fall, just waiting for them to drop. (They’re getting close…)

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
