The Beachy Summer Mantel

Hey everyone I hope you had a great weekend, and for all you mamas out there, hope you had a happy Mother’s Day too!  I got a few things accomplished and that was nice, and one of them included taking down the Spring/Easter mantel and creating a new summer mantel.  And I loooooove how it came out!

I wanted to go with a beachy look this year with shades of aqua and the good news is that I already had everything. Except the driftwood which I picked up in Alabama. Oh, and I did buy the rope ball at Target for $5.

I love it up here!  You can also spy my aqua painted mason jar up there too.  That rope net thing around it was something I kept a long time ago and some decorative balls came in it, I think.

I already had the old antique window and used it for my Fall mantel last year as a backdrop, but this time I just turned it on its side, and made a simple shell wreath to hang on it.

I just wove some pretty ribbon in and out of the wreath form and glued on some seashells.  Really couldn’t have been any easier and I love how it turned out.

I love the driftwood and the natural element it brings.

Now here’s just a few more pretty shots. :)

And that’s a wrap!  I really am thrilled with how it came out.  You can see last year’s summer mantel here.  I loved it a lot too! :)

What do you think?  Are you ready for summer? Or at least ready for the beach?  I am! :) Sharing this post at Sarah’s Before and After Party.

xxoo,

Decorchick!

LOVE this wonderful beachy display!! I have a lot of that stuff already, too. I’ve been really wanting a rope ball, so I will be looking for it at my local Target. Hopefully, they have some where I live. Thanks for sharing this!

This is great! I love love love the beach, so naturally, I love beach decor.

I’m jealous that you can have this mantle. I actually had my husband look at yours a few months ago to see if he could build me one, but I decided that our hallway was too narrow for it to look good. It just wasn’t mean to be. Oh well. I’ll just lust after yours. ;)

I absolutely looooove how this came out too. The pops of aqua are just perfect! And I am a sucker for everything driftwood. We actually don’t have a mantel so I transformed one of our driftwood shelves into a ‘fantel’ for this challenge. I’m so thrilled to be featured with you at Layla’s! Your details are some of my favorites. :)

Your mantel is great, love the different textures. I was thinking beachy too, blue seems to be a good summer color this year.

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
