The Backsplash is Coming Down!

As if I didn’t have enough projects and other things going on, I’ve taken on another one…in our kitchen…and it’s our backsplash! Oh wait, I’m sure you got that part from the post title.  But yes it’s true, I’m on the crazy train.  Wanna join me? :)

How could I resist this project though when The Home Depot reached out and asked if I wanted to try out their new Atmospheres Tile Collection by Daltile?  Ummm, yes, please!  I have been wanting to redo our kitchen backsplash for forever because there is SO much beige in our kitchen it drives me nuts.  Our backsplash is the same as our floor tile.  And it’s b.o.r.i.n.g.

Here is a sampling of the Atmospheres Collection which is carried at The Home Depot and they are lovely.  These pictures offer several good tips for selecting tile, because selecting tile can be an overwhelming task.

Now, I have never done a tiling project. Ever.  So this is quite a big job for my first one, but hey, go big or go home right?  But luckily with tiling experts at every store, The Home Depot is empowering customers to take on both large and small scale tiling projects.  And I’m definitely empowered now after speaking to them!

Also, more good news is that the tile is already down, and it isn’t pretty…

What a mess!!  But the good news is that things look MUCH better now and I can’t wait to show you the progress!!  I also can’t wait to show you which tile I chose from the Atmospheres Collection by Daltile.  Pretty pretty pretty!

I’m so excited to be partnering with The Home Depot on this project.  I am at that store I don’t know how many times a week. Good thing it’s like 2 minutes from my house. :)

So stay tuned for more updates–it’s gonna be good. :)  Have you ever done any tiling project before?  What did you think of it?

xxoo,

Decorchick!

I would take them up on that offer too! We don’t have any backsplash, so I’m interested to see what you end up with!

We updated our kitchen about 3 years ago with new countertops, sink, faucet and backsplash. I brought in the pros. I would have tried it myself, but I had shoulder surgery and couldn’t do it. I say, go for it! Anxious to see your new tile!

I tried tiling a floor, once, back during the days when Hechinger was still in business. Afterwards, I came away thinking this is a job I will definitely leave to the professionals. Before selling that house, I hired someone to come redo said floor, that’s how bad it was.

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
