Welcoming Fall With An Updated Entry and New Bookcase!

It was below 80 degrees here ALL weekend, so out came the Fall decor! I am so excited to show you our updated Fall entryway with this pretty new bookshelf that I decorated for the season.

It looks SO much better in this little area by our front door now compared to what we previously had…

Grey Paint After Staircase

That is a really old photo, but that black thing was something I got at the thrift store years ago, and I’ve been wanting to chunk it out for about the past year or so. It was wide, wasn’t super functional, and I spray painted it black back in the day. Crazy how our tastes can change so much.

I’m much more digging this rustic bookcase from BHG products at Walmart!

This is their Crossmill 5-shelf Bookcase in Lintel Oak and it’s wonderful. And very affordable.

Now when guests come by they will see this pretty bookshelf that seems like it was made for this space, instead of a big black bulky box.

And maybe they will grab an orange on their way out.

Yes I put fresh oranges in a bowl on the bookcase because it’s pretty. And no I won’t let them sit there and go rotten. We’ve already eaten 3 of them since yesterday.

Try it. I bet your friends will copy you. :)

These 2 galvanized bins are also BHG products at Walmart, and they are so fun!

The other metal bin that I’m using as an umbrella holder in the first picture is another product from there. Super inexpensive y’all. And can be used for so many things!

I took one of my old shutters and put it as a backdrop on one of the shelves.

Kind of unexpected and I like that!

And then the top shelf…

That is my first real white pumpkin of the season and it makes me happy. Now I’m ready for more. :)

I’m super happy with our updated entry and love this bookcase so much. My husband wants a few for his office now.

Their Crossmill pieces were definitely some of my favorites when we visited the Better Homes and Gardens Headquarters last month. Very on trend with the rustic grey weathered wood. So pretty!

And yes this bookcase is anchored to the wall with the L-bracket that came with it. Safety first when you have kiddos!

So what do you think of the updated entry and bookcase?

What are you doing around your house to get ready for guests and the Fall season? I even made chili over the weekend since we had “cooler” temps. :)

I really love the finish on this bookcase. It is so current. Way to go Walmart! And your Fall touches are the perfect welcoming sight for an entryway.

It looks absolutely lovely. You’ve styled it so beautifully. But I’m sorry, I will not buy a single thing at Wal-Mart, BHG sponsored or otherwise.

It’s beautiful! I had no idea Walmart would sell furniture I’d actually buy!
My favorite shelf is the one with the shutter…you said it perfect…”unexpected”! I would’ve never thought of it!
BTW, where did you get your white pumpkin? Did you get it at the store that way, or did you paint it?

I haven’t gotten out Fall decor yet, but I did open the windows and made some chicken and white bean soup…it went perfect with the cold weather! Can’t wait till it sticks around!

I couldn’t believe that it cooled off like it did….so much earlier than usual. But it felt good! Maybe we’ll have a nice Fall this year.

LOVE your bookcase and accessories. Great styling, too. Are these items in store or online only?

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

How could you NOT with these gorgeous colorings?! A red and blue Merle are so unique, and they are the sweetest!🐶🐶

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
