Decorchick!

Decorchick Got a Facelift!!

Okay okay, really a site-lift, but facelift sounded more fun. I’m SO thrilled with it I can’t stand it! It was about 2 years overdue, but hey, at least it’s done now and the vision came to life. I still love my old design too because it reminds me of how this blogging thing all started and where it’s taken me, but I am also excited for the future and what’s to come. This site design stuff is HARD. But my husband is the absolute BEST person on Earth and made this happen because he is a genius.

First up, I have a new logo and tagline which I think is pretty stellar.

Decorchick header

We designed it together and I’m pretty much in love with it so you’ll be seeing lots of it soon. :)

One thing I want to point out to everyone because this has been confusing since day 1. But all along, my blog has always been Decorchick! That’s how I always signed my name at the end of my posts. But my old header was Decor Chick! so everyone thought it was 2 words, and understandably so. But just want to let you know, it’s supposed to be 1 word and we fixed that now so there should be no confusion. :)

As far as the rest of the design and layout, well, I don’t want to spoil it all for you reading in a reader so click on over and check it out. It’s pretty, it’s clean, less fluff, but still fun.

You’ll notice I have some new menus with drop-down tabs. I got all fancy on you. I am still working on the content for some of the drop-downs like my project gallery, but they will be there soon. I can only stay up till 4am so often. Ugh!

So when you see that little + sign on a main menu tab, that means there are other drop down menus below it. Those will be updated continuously so finding old projects and such will be much easier. Finally right??!

My blogroll is now under a tab too in case you are looking for some great inspiration…

I also have a pretty footer that I’m loving. OH, and I have a new blog button too that’s on my sidebar.

So if you happen to be displaying my old button on your site, you might want to update it with the new one. I’d love you forever. ;)

If you browse through my archives by category, the projects are displayed really cool and orderly so check that out too.

Obviously this was a MAJOR deal and switching over frameworks and such so I am sure we will run into a few kinks along the way. Please be patient and just know we are still working on everything getting everything tweaked, but if you come across something please let me know. This new site design is for YOU all to make your navigating experience more pleasant. I really hope my site is pleasurable for you because I know how annoying it can be to look for stuff on a disorganized site.

Another important thing to note is that I now have 2 search bars–1 in my header, and 1 in my footer. So depending on where you are browsing on my site, you can easily find what you need. Just do a search in that little box and you should find what you need! And luckily if you are on the bottom of my site and want to go the top, instead of scrolling you can just hit the “to the top of page” button. Brilliant.

We are still working on configuring the mobile settings so hang tight.

Okie doke I think that’s it. I would LOVE to know what you all think about the new site! You all know I hate change too so I hope this isn’t a big shock for you all since my site has been the same for 3 years.  Change is good (sometimes) and in this case it definitely is. :)

Looking forward to connecting with you all and hearing feedback! Oh, and if you are just reading this post, you need to click over to the home page and check out everything. It’s set up a little differently than most blogs, and I dig it. Do you?

And this post is dedicated to my awesome hubby, again. He worked SO hard on this and his perfectionism ways really paid off. I can’t thank him enough. I love you!

xxoo,

Decorchick!

It is SO MUCH work to change the smallest thing on your blog…I never knew until I started blogging….

    Now you owe your husband…big time… : )

Ha you made me laugh. But thank you SO much! I love the tone of your excitement. :) And yes, changing anything is a big deal. I was always on wordpress, but I switched frameworks to Genesis, so it was still a big move. Loving it though!

Love the new design. It is so fresh and crisp. I love how you thought about usability for your readers. And I smiled big when I saw the note about going to the top of the page, from the bottom. I wish every site had that. I think we have been spoiled by Pinterest.

And what do you mean, that you don’t like change? You are constantly changing your rooms, to make it better. This site is the same thing. Just making it better.

Good job. Can’t wait to come back for more. Love your style and design.

Thank you Rebecca! And yes, I’m always changing the house, but changing out a lamp is different than changing out old habits and familiarity. :)

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
