And It Works! {An $8 Chandelier Makeover}

I am soooo happy the chandelier I bought at the thrift store works!  Even though a small headache occurred when we took down the florescent lighting, the electrician already came and installed the electrical box and our laundry room (which is still undergoing a makeover) is now sporting a lovely “new” aqua chandelier! *UPDATE: See Laundry Room Makeover Here* Doesn’t… View Post

Laundry Room Lighting Issue

I’m still working away on our laundry room (which is looking pretty fab I must say), but I need your help with the lighting in there. First of all we have a big florescent light in there which will be coming down. It’s not pretty and I want something pretty.  The problem is though is that there are no windows… View Post

Orange It Is!

I finally did start the laundry room redo this week, and orange was the winning color. I know it probably looks scary in the can but don’t you worry. It sure looks pretty on the walls!  And let me tell you, our crazy size laundry room is not easy for a pregnant person to paint.  Squatting under the stairs and… View Post

The Good and the Bad: 2 Story Houses

Let’s talk about 2-story houses today.  A lot of people have them, myself included.  And I have mixed feelings about them.  Some days I love it, others it annoys the heck out of me. Via 2 story houses are great because: You usually get more space for the money, vs. a sprawling 1 story which would cost much more. You… View Post

The Dresser That Was Meant To Be

Have you ever been so excited you found that perfect piece of furniture for your home?  Well I am, and I found mine while out garage sale-ing.  My mom’s area had a neighborhood-wide garage sale a few weeks ago and I was not going to miss it.  I have been on the hunt for a bigger piece of furniture to… View Post

Color Crushin’: Orange and Aqua

I haven’t painted anything in a while, like a room or anything, but I have the itch now.  Maybe it’s my 2nd trimester nesting kicking in?  Regardless, me and my bump are ready to have some fun with a paint roller again. And I think I am going to start the laundry room redo.  And since the laundry room is… View Post

The Spring and Easter Mantel!

I can’t believe it’s finally Spring! Well, it feels like it is anyway. Did anyone actually have a real winter this year? We sure didn’t! But anyway, I love how this year’s Spring mantel turned out and I can’t wait to show you! Pin It I call it the simple and elegant spring mantel. :)  I love the touches of… View Post

The Boy’s Room Makeover!

Well, I’m finally going to reveal my stepson’s room today.  I started his room pretty much exactly 1 year ago, but that doesn’t mean it took me that long to finish it.  It’s actually been done for quite some time, but I just haven’t written about it yet. :)  He is in the tween years too, and I think this… View Post

Closing in a Wall

Remember our gameroom/multipurpose room?  It’s a room that I haven’t done anything to except paint and add board and batten to. And I haven’t blogged about this room in over a year. Sad, I know.  What’s even more sad is that nothing has changed in this room since then!  I hope to change that soon though, but first I need… View Post

A Sunburst Mirror Deal!

Well sunburst mirrors are still going strong this year (I have about 5 now!), and when I saw this gold metallic one being pinned all over Pinterest, I knew I had to get it. And for $35–hello!!! Isn’t it beautiful?!  It is from Martha Stewart Living and you get it at Home Depot. And again for just $35! :) It’s… View Post

The Entryway Got a Facelift

I’m so excited to show you all a few changes I made to our entryway!  As part of a blogger challenge sponsored by Apartment Guide, I was given $150 and was supposed to give an area of our home a little freshening up. Don’t have to ask me twice to go out and spend money! But the odd thing about… View Post

Our New White, Pink, and Grey Bedroom

Yes it’s true. Our master bedroom has undergone a few changes yet again.  When I started using the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint toward the end of last year, I couldn’t stop.  And I ended up painting all of our furniture in our bedroom white.  And then I decided to go pink and grey with the rest of the decor, so… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
