Decorchick!

The Next Project…

Hope you all had a great Easter! I wanted to fill you in on what’s going on in this brain of mine. You see, I have a little problem of starting projects and not finishing them. Well I finish them up until the last final details sometimes (like ummm, the nursery!) and then start something new. I usually have about 5-10 different things going on at once. No lie. My brain is always spinning its wheels of new ideas and projects. But seriously I MUST hang stuff up on the walls in the nursery and photograph the room for you all because it really is pretty!! Haha. Goodness by the time I get it posted for you all it will be time to make her a big girl room. Ugh. Soon. Real soon. Make me do it.

Moving on…

So last week in my never-ending wheel-spinnin’ brain, I decided I wanted to do something. People are always painting their furniture and such different colors, so instead of white or black which is safe, I’m going to use this color…

on this.

Yes I’m going to paint our bathroom vanity coral! And I’m so excited about it! I already have the paint for it too so I’ll be starting it possibly today. I have to buy another brush because I left my last one in the fridge too long and ruined it. Gah.

And no, this is not an April fools joke. :)

I haven’t seen too many colored vanities around so I hope it turns out good. With some pretty new knobs it should be fabulous. :) And I need to paint the walls too–maybe just a white? I don’t know still. What color do you think?

I’ll keep you posted on the cabinets. Then of course I’ll need new bath rugs and towels. And maybe paint the frame around the mirror. Haha. Every small makeover turns out to be a bigger one. Hopefully I will get to show you the reveal sometime this year. Slow and steady wins the race right? ;)

Oh and here’s a pic of me and my little sailor girls on Easter.

Aren’t they sweet? I wish you could see full frontal full length pics because their dresses were so stinkin’ cute. But umm, taking pics is not an easy task any longer. And hopefully my husband can be in the pics one day too! (he plays at the church all day so he wasn’t here for pics). And see, I told you I love orange and aqua!

What are you up to these days? Do you suffer from DADD too (decorating ADD)?

xxoo,

yes — I totally suffer DADD!! Love that coral color, and think it will be fab in your bathroom! My mom recently painted her vanity a deep red, and I was shocked at how good it looked. And you and the girls look adorable…congrats on all that weight lost!! You look amazing!!

Love it! I have been using that color in my gray/cream colored office as my pop of color. Most recently I have been on the hunt for a shelf that I can tackle in that color too! I can’t wait to see the pictures! Also, great picture of you and the girls!

I’m learning from reading blogs that many have the DADD disease so I feel in good company! Thank God for patient husbands! You look great and your daughters are precious! What adorable outfits! You are brave to paint that coral, but I think it will be great. My hubby would never go for that. He thinks painted furniture/cabinetry looks cheap, ugh! I’m trying to break him in slowly……………. ;)

You and your girls are so very beautiful! You made me realize with this post how much MY family really needs a new family portrait done. I should get on that! I just noticed on your sidebar that you lost 25 lbs. Nice work! That is wonderful. We have a ‘Beat the Bulge’ continuous link party for people to share their healthy eating, exercise and success stories with each other. It’s nice to have others that are trying to change their lives and be more healthy to share with.
I love the idea of a colorful vanity! Can’t wait to see how it looks. White walls sounds like a fresh choice to let it shine too. :) Have fun!!!
    Wow…long comment…sorry! ;)

Thank you so much Sherry! Yay for healthy eating! And yea, the more I think about it I think white would be nice too. I should just do it now before I change my mind again. :)

Can’t wait to see how your vanity turns out. All your decorating posts have gotten me in the mood to do just that, my daughter and I were decorating our sideboard and dining table a few days ago for Spring.Hope you had a beautiful Easter day!

I absolutely suffer from that! I am exactly the same, where I get about 85% of the project done and the last 15% takes me forever to get finished. And it also means I have about 10 projects going on at once. Once I get an idea, I just want to go. Not very efficient, but you do what you have to do! Lately I have been trying to be better about finishing things up before I move on to something else! Doesn’t always work, but I am getting there. :)

Your daughters look adorable! Good luck with your bathroom redo — I have no frame on my bathroom mirror. Did you put yours up? My mirror has those big clips that stick out (not the flat clips), so I have no idea how to add a frame!

Thanks Lauren! That is actually one of those Mirrormate Frames. They just stick up on the mirror.

Luv the pic of you and the girls. Your girls are precious. I wish I had a husband who would let me paint our vanity (he is quite boring and doesn’t like color on the walls, either – pooh on him!). =)

I read the comment above from Lauren@momhomeguide about how to frame a vanity mirror. I found a few bog posts on framing a vanity mirror. It is on my list of projects to tackle. I didn’t feel right about posting url’s on your blog, but can pass them on to you if you would like.

I can’t wait to see your progress. Thanks for sharing.

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
