Dear Santa,
This little guy really doesn’t cut it for me any longer…
I’ve had this hand mixer ever since I got my first apartment, which is about 12 years now. It’s the only mixer I’ve ever owned. And when I used it recently, I started to smell something smokey, so I think it’s on the verge of blowing up and that would be bad. Very bad. Plus, it takes all my might to use this thing when I am trying to whip up some cookies or pumpkin bread.
So, I think I need something that does the work for me. You know, something like this…
I know that is quite the upgrade, but I promise to take good care of her and make delicious treats. It would be so great if you can come through on this one.
Thanks Santa.
Love, Emily
So friends, that is on my wish list this year. Just one little problem is that it’s way too expensive!
What are you wishing for this Christmas?
xxoo,
Decorchick!
Lauren says
Seriously, it’s worth it. When I want a larger gift, I justify it to my husband by forgoing gifts for other occasions throughout the year, so the gift becomes a Christmas/Mother’s Day/Birthday gift.
Decorchick! says
Yea I always say that too….haha.
Robyn says
It will be one of the best investments. I burned up a couple of the hand mixers when I was younger much younger (like 20). For my birthday one year, my family pitched in and bought it for me. Skip ahead 14 years (ouch), it still works just like it did the first time.
Also, take a look at Craigslist or Ebay. I came across a few by accident the other day on Craigslist.
Decorchick! says
You are so lucky! Glad you love it. I’ll take a look there too!

I want a Dyson Vacuum lol!…I know that is a dream as they are up there in price. At least for me. But they clean so darn well. They clean the dust off a wood floor like no vacuum I have ever used. Momma and Dad? I know I am 38 years old but this is my wish and Santa to. Oh, one can dream haha…
I hope you get your blender. Its very pretty and really has that vintage look to in. Those have always gave me a twinkle in my eye :)
Decorchick! says
Oh gosh now that I DO have! I don’t know what I’d do without mine. Haha. We got a refurbished one during a 4th of July sale for half the price of the original ones. I LOVE it!
LesleyG says
I’m in the “it’s worth it” crowd, too. I found mine a few years ago on Amazon on black Friday and it was about 15% off, which is great for these guys because, as I’m sure you know, their price never changes. BUT, it also never wears out! My mother’s still works the way it did when she got it as a wedding gift 30+ years ago!
Decorchick! says
Man I think everyone thinks it’s worth it. Yea, my grandma has an old avocado green one and it’s SUPER heavy and still works perfect. It’s gotta be ancient.
Hoosier at Heart says
I have a feeling that Santa has you on his nice list and this will be under your tree, even if your Dad has to build it for you!
Decorchick! says
HAHAHA!! Wow, that would be something.
andrea says
I have a Kitchenaid mixer, and I don’t know how I’d live without it! It is wonderful. I definately think Santa should oblige to your wish!
Decorchick! says
Oh gosh Andrea you are so smart!!
Karla @ It's The Little Things... says

Man, I hope Santa is reading this….Mom are you there? Oh husband of mine are you listening?
Toni @ The Tattered Cottage says
These are on sale this week at Macy’s. I think they are $179. My SIL paid $299. in August for hers. You might be able to find it at Overstock.com or Amazon.com for less. Hope Santa is good to you this year :)

Decorchick! says
Good deal, thanks Sonia!
Sara @ House Bella says
If I had enough counter space for one of those, I’d be right there with you! :)
Katie @ Katie Beth Interiors says
I have long had my eye on one of those lovely mixers, we didn’t register for one because they were so expensive, but now I am realizing how handy one would be. But for this Christmas I have a lovely Louis Vuitton bag on my list, just for fun :)
Decorchick! says
Ha, that sounds like a fun Christmas list for sure!!
Teri says
Oh I hope that you’ve been a good girl so Santa can bring you this. It is a way cool toy to have in the kitchen, I love mine.
When I got mine my sister became the happy recipient to my old food processor, mixer, blender, w/all attachments from 1986 that was still going strong. She’s had it now for a couple of years, still taking a beating from her and going strong. Gotta love machines that continue to get the job done!
Decorchick! says
Yes, the ole saying “you get what you pay for” can definitely be applied here. Although my cheap little hand mixer has lasted 12 years and that’s not too shabby. haha

Not to make you jealous, but I have the red one!! And I LOOOOOVVVVEEEE it!! {{I threw my old beaters out!}} And then I even bought my Mom a blue one for Mother’s Day, this year. I know they are pricey . . .seems like they never go on sale, however, I am on the Macy’s email list and I was able to get my Mom’s with some discounts (notice the plural on discount) & free shipping. Macy’s has a ton of colors to choose from too!! So tell your husband to get on that Macy’s email list!! LOL I really hope you get one, you deserve it!! :)
Decorchick! says
Macy’s actually has them on sale right now a reader said!

Just stumbled across your blog and laughed when I saw your post! I said the same thing yesterday and had to share this with you. If you go to Kitchenaid.com and click on the outlet tab, you can buy refurbished stand mixers for half the price! That one you have pictured is there for $169!
Decorchick! says
Oh how funny, thank you Darbi!
Cammie says
My Husband surprised me with that very red stand mixer a few years ago for Christmas! I love, love, love it and I never cover it up because I want everyone to see it :o) I hope Santa reads your letter and brings you one this year – keep us updated of course :o) On my wish list this year is a Silhouette and Speedball Screenprinting starter kit :o) I’m quite sure i’ve not been good enough this though…..Santa’s budget is quite a bit smaller around here these days :o)
Decorchick! says
Hahaha I think everyone’s is. But good thing you already have your mixer!
Wanda says
I have that exact same mixer, and absolutely LOVE it. The red look s great in my kitchen too! :) Hope Santa gets it to you this year!
Decorchick! says
Ah good for you Wanda! I hope so too. :)
Lauren says
Here’s hoping you make the “nice” list!! I’ve had mine for awhile now, and love it! Keep checking the store fliers in the coming month…they tend to go on sale during the holiday season.
Decorchick! says
I’ve been nice I promise!!
Lorie says
You will love it, but I hate to tell you that you will still want a hand mixer too! Do you have a Costco membership? There are usually good deals on the big KitchenAid mixer this time of year!
Decorchick! says
Hey Lorie yes I do! I’ll have to check them out too, thanks!
Kristine Low says
Hey Emily!! I love your blog. But I must suggest upping the asking for Christmas: you should ask for a Bosch mixer instead of a *dare I say lame?* kitchen aid!
I use my bosch to make 6 loaves of whole-wheat bread at once, and it is super powerful and will outlast any kitchen aid. It’s the bomb. (And it’s expensive….but it will last your lifetime) It can come with a blender attachment that is razor-sharp. Seriously, the Bosch company is the same that makes top of the line hardware products for people who do construction.
Anyway, I’m just a student at BYU, not a bosch salesman, but if you want to see an example check it out here:

ROFL… my hand mixer bit the dust LAST Christmas…it was about 20 yrs old!! But it literally went out in a blaze of glory. Thus my Christmas gift, a Kitchenaid mixer. It ROCKS!!!
Jessi @ Quirky Cookery says
That’s what I got for Christmas last year and it’s worth every penny. I baby it like crazy and use it constantly. I hope Santa grants your wish. <3 KitchenAid stand mixers.
Peggy says
And to think I just sold mine at a yard sale. Now don’t get me wrong… it was a great mixer but I upgraded. For the past two years I’ve been using a Bosch due to our family’s needs (I make 4 to 6 loaves of bread once a week plus grind our own hamburger.) Now as much as I LOVE my Bosch I realize it is not for all people. And Kitchen Aide is a great product! When my Grandma passed away in 1998 her 1940’s Kitchen Aide mixer was still functioning and used on a regular basis…
My Christmas present…. umm I would love a stove exhaust hood which vents outside…
Jami @ freckled laundry says
I have the very same Cinnamon red kitchenaid stand mixer. Love the thing. They are SO worth it. I hope Santa brings one to you this year! If they weren’t so expensive, I’d buy another and give you mine as it won’t match the new decor (says Veruca Salt). I LOVE the Copper mixers. Hey kitchenaid, if you’re reading, how about a French Gray mixer? Hee hee.
Jami @ freckled laundry says
Check khol’s. They have a few door buster bargains on black friday. $199.
Megan says
She’s a beauty! I’ve started my list too- a running stroller is at the top:)
Megan says
I just saw that Costco has them for $50 off and thought of you! :)
Sue, Vancouver, BC, Canada says
Thats my baby…love it..and it looks so pretty and bright on the counter :-) You will love it! Someone mentioned you would need a hand mixer too..I don;t, I use this for everything! :-) I want to get the pasta attachment for it now ….
Amy Townsend says
I’ve been using my KitchenAid Accolade for the last 5 years. (It was an upgrade from the hand mixer.) It’s done well meeting my needs including making lots of large cakes and mixing fondant, butter cream, and other icings. When I started making bread I learned about Bosch. I have seen one at work and have been drooling over the idea of owning one and the sooner the better. Yesterday I made 4 loaves of bread and 2 dozen sausage kolaches and milled the grain with my KitchenAid. I just know the Bosch would have cut my time in the kitchen in 1/2 and just to be clear…all I want for Christmas, birthday, Mother’s Day, and wedding anniversary is the Bosch Universal mixer with blender. :)
Amanda says
Santa got me one from Black Friday for $150!
I cant wait for the countdown to begin (:
