Decorchick!

Welcome, A’la Mode!

Y’all are in for such a treat today!  I met Shelli (I think on Twitter?), went to her blog and fell in love.  It’s jaw-dropping gorgeous.  I asked Shelli to do a little guest post so I could show off her home to all of you and so you can get to know the girl behind the blog.  She’s been blogging just about 2 months now.  You’re gonna love her, and her blog.  So take it away girl!

Hi Ya’ll!  Greetings from Nashville, Tennessee!  I’m so happy to be poppin’ over for a visit to Emily’s fun blog, as it is one of my favorite blogs to gain inspiration and tips!

I have always loved home decor, but my design style has evolved and matured over the years, no doubt.  It has been a process!  I have always loved the hunt of beautiful things and I am a ‘finder’ by nature.

I am drawn to an eclectic mix of traditional furnishings and clean lines.  I love pops of color but on a calm and serene base palette.  I want there to be history in my space mixed with new, fresh furnishings.  I want the walls to speak about me and my family.  My pet peve would be unusable space within a home so I strive to make all rooms functional.  I am a neat freak but have relaxed because of my sweet baby girl (I fought that battle and lost out of pure love).

Here is a glimpse of the place I call home….

Thanks Emily for letting me be part of your lovely blog for a day!

Are your jaws dropping?  Her entire home is stunning, but goodness, that pink office is to die for!! Be sure and go visit Shelli’s blog and take a peek around and say hello. You’ll be peeking for hours, just warning you now.  :)

And on a different and sad note, my heart really breaks for everyone affected by all of the wicked weather.  It’s catastrophic, I don’t even know what else to say.  We have family in Alabama and many bloggers and readers are from Bama and the South too. We love you all and are praying.

xxoo,

Decorchick!

I want to move in!!! That nursery is adorable. Have to remember that for a grandchild. The master bedroom is so relaxing….is the duvet custom? If not, where is it from? I’ve been looking for something like that in that color forever! Thanks for sharing your home….it is jaw dropping!!!

2 months later, and it’s still hard. So very har 2 months later, and it’s still hard. So very hard. It is the strangest, most emptiest feeling one could have, and one that not everyone understands.

Tonight was the 3rd griefshare meeting that I’ve attended, and that does help to be around others who have lost someone close. But it is also so painful hearing their stories. And it’s a night during the week that I’m forced to think about how he’s no longer here. It’s helped me to realize all of the thoughts and actions we have are normal, and the things we do that are odd to others, are actually part of the process.

I haven’t been able to wear these shirts of his yet (he wore them every single day. The red one was his “fancy” one), but I’m glad I have them. It’s just really crappy I can’t see him in them any longer. 💔

This is a pain like no other. I watched him take This is a pain like no other.

I watched him take his final breath at 7:24 this morning. The scent of him is still so palpable.

Gone too soon, and years stolen from his wife and grandkids.

We live in the same small neighborhood, right around the corner on the next street. Now the girls can’t ride their 4-wheelers to go see him. We can’t just swing by to pick him up. He can’t go on our walks anymore. There are lots of no-longers, and it is crushing my heart.

Who am I going to call now when I have a question on how to fix something? He had a solution for everything usually saving us hundreds of dollars. Everything was fixable to him, rather than hiring someone. And often he would find the answer on YouTube.

Who am I going to text with when the Astros make a good or bad play during the next World Series?

I want to hear his voice again. I want to go over and cut his hair again. I want to make him another pie for his birthday and Father’s Day.

It hurts so much.

I love you Daddy.
