What Happened at The 90 Minute Presentation…?

Well if you are all dying to know what happened with the vacation package/timeshare thing, here’s the skinny.

It really wasn’t that bad!  And it wasn’t a timeshare company, it really was a vacation package co.  We get there and there’s only about 6 other couples there, and a lady was assigned to us.  She was nice at first.  Just small talk.  Then the main guy gets up and does a presentation for just 30 minutes then he was done.  It was fun to watch and fun to dream about places we’d like to visit like Tahiti.

When he was finished the lady came back trying to make a deal.  She asked if we had any questions.  I said “no.”  Then she got mad and said “You have NO questions after that?”  Then I couldn’t help but laugh and said “well it was a thorough presentation and we enjoyed watching it.”  Then she just got pretty rude, probably because from all of my giggling.  I don’t know why I was laughing so much.  You know those times you shouldn’t laugh, like in church or something, but you just can’t stop?  Well yea that was me.  I giggle when I get nervous too.

So anyway, she knew we were done and weren’t getting a sale out of us, so she raises her hand and another guy comes over to us.  He was nice, dropped the price down by like 95%, but it was still a no from us.  They told us that vacationing is essential in our lives if we want to live long.  Then they explained how the Europeans outlive us all in America because they get like 2 months vacation time a year.  Hmmm, that’s tempting. Maybe we should move.

The guy was nice though and wasn’t too pushy at all.  He just believes in what he’s selling and there’s nothing wrong with that.

OH, and y’all were right.  When someone buys the deal, they announced it and everyone started clapping, including me.  I guess I was expecting that from y’alls comments?  But 3 other couples bought that day, just all in a span of 5 minutes of each other, but it’s hard for me to believe they really bought them.  Are those people plants or actors?  It was just weird how it all happened when the sales people knew that we weren’t buying and we were waiting for our vouchers.  Because you know, we are missing out on a great deal since everyone else is doing it too.

Anywho, about the prizes…

We did get the voucher which I have to send in, then we can book everything.  We could do the 8 day cruise, some Mexico trips, and a few other trips that are for a couple of days which are paid for.  So we have about 5 different options to choose from.  Yes there are definitely restrictions, and with the cruise we would have to pay a couple hundred each (which isn’t bad), but the other trips are a lot less than that.   Right now we are thinking we will just do one of the shorter trips and not the cruise.  After all, 8 days on a boat sounds incredibly long to the both of us.  Plus, it would be agonizing to be away from our daughter for that long.  I know myself and I’d freak out.  I always have come home early from any trip I have ever taken–heck, I even came home early from Blissdom in Nashville and that was only a 2-3 day thing!  And if we were out at sea miles away, there’d be no way for us to leave early.

So that’s about it in a nutshell. We were out of there in just an hour which may be record-breaking according to y’alls comments on the other posts. :)  I am sure those people know it’s going to be a NO when they see a giggling girl.

I loved being able to share with y’all this little journey of ours and no one get mad because it’s wasn’t decorating related.  Isn’t it good to know about this stuff?  I think it’s interesting!  But I will close the timeshare journey for now….or at least until we receive our next free flyer in the mail. ;)

xxoo,

Loved this string of posts. I have never done this but I have got the offers in the mail. I am glad to hear that it is possible to survive and receive the voucher. Heck if they are offering 95% off someone just may be clapping for me! ♥

Oh, please let us know how the trip goes, and how much it ends up costing you! I’ve always thrown those types of things away when I got them, because I thought they were just junk. So I’m interested to know how it all ends up!

It’s so funny, but last Friday I actually got a post card in the mail saying that I won a free cruise – and I immediately thought of you! I’m not sure if I will go to the presentation though… You’ll have to let me know how your trip is when ya’ll go. If it’s good, then next time I get one of those cards in the mail I will definitely go to the presentation.

Glad you didn’t cave to the sales pressure. Makes you wonder, like you said, are those other couples actors?

I answered a phone call from a sales person when my son entered to win an ATV, (he wasn’t 18 yet). After I told them I wasn’t interested, she proceeded to ask me if we made a combined income of $45,000 a year…..to which I answered ‘no’. Dumbfounded, she then asked how we managed to live on less money. Duh!! Very frugally!! So bravo to you for sticking to your guns!!! I hope you enjoy every minute of your EARNED vacation. I know how much they pressure you! And I’ll be looking forward to hearing about how much fun you two have.

Cool. I always wanted to know how one of those meetings would go. NOW I am MORE interested in the vacation. The cruise is probably a row boat. lol

This is great. If I get one of these postcards I’ll be more willing to call. I don’t have any problems saying no!

It was fun reading about your encounter! It’s always interesting how mad people can get when you say “no” but glad you “enjoyed it” anyway. The madder they get the more stubborn I get ! Looking forward to hearing about your trip once you take it. Keep us posted.

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
