Sweet Home Alabama

There’s just something about Alabama. We were on vacation last week and got back earlier this week. We had a wonderful time, like we always do. It’s nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and flat land of Houston, and see beautiful greenery and hills. Like, real hills. If we ever move, it’d likely be to Alabama where… View Post

Dreaming of Lots of Land

Summer is here and I’m already dreaming. Dreaming of lots of land. I’ve been dreaming about it for several months actually. I am just sort of over the master-planned communities, the HOA fees, and living right on top of our neighbors. I liked this idea at some point, but that was about 6 years ago when we moved here and… View Post

Our Vegetable Garden 2014!

Well last year’s garden was so fun to have, that my mom helped me again with this one. We kept everything mostly the same this year as far as veggies go, just used a different soil. I’m not too sure on this soil though, it was one our nursery highly recommended, but it’s not as moisture rich as the one… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
