A Veggie Tales Party Under $25

I wasn’t even going to write about the girls’ Veggie Tales birthday party we just had, because as I had said in this post about extravagant parties, you know how I feel about those. BUT, their Veggie Tales cakes that my mom made I just have to share with you so I decided to show with you a very frugal… View Post

The IKEA Rug That I Regret Not Buying

So, we went to IKEA yesterday. On a Sunday. Crazytown. I always try to plan my trips to IKEA on the weekdays when the madness is less, the lines aren’t a mile long, and when the bathrooms are actually in working order. But we went on a whim because there was a particular rug I wanted to get that I… View Post

Why I am Saying No To Extravagant Birthday Parties

You know that time you had kids and wanted to give them moon and the stars, and the best birthday party ever? That time you went all out and spent a lot of money in the process? That time you spent hours cleaning, decorating, and preparing food for the party? Well, this year I am taking a stance and saying… View Post

Our New Living Room Arrangement! It’s Like a Brand New Room!

You know how sometimes you think moving furniture around is such a huge ordeal, or you are scared to try something, so you just let your furniture placement sit like it is forever? Well that was me. Sure I will move a table or a few chairs around here and there, but for the most part, our living room has… View Post

How Many Lamps are Too Many?

So I want to know, how many lamps do you have in your living room? Our living room recently got a little big switcheroo by my hubby when I was out of town last week. So props to him because I actually LIKE it! But one thing I hate using is our overhead lights that are in the 2-story ceiling… View Post

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
