I’m sure you all heard about the new Missoni line at Target right? Everything was available yesterday, and ummm, apparently pretty popular since Target’s site was down all day, and since most stores sold out first thing in the morning. Craziness. It was like black Friday or something.
Missoni made a line for Target that includes home decor items, clothing, electronic stuff, accessories, and many more. If you aren’t familiar with Missoni, they are known for their chevron stripes (or zig zags), geometric patterns, and bold colors. They are fun, vibrant, and definitely trendy! And maybe even a blast from the past for some of you, like my mom maybe. *giggle*
I had to go to 2 Target stores yesterday because the 1st one was totally sold out of everything. I was bummed. But not too bummed because it looked like the prices were high. So on to the next Target and I saw a lot of the stuff. And I also saw several people kind of running around the store asking for Missoni, but in a whisper. Kind of like it was top secret or something.
Anyway, here is some of the goodness that’s at the stores.
The makeup bags were so cute and seemed to be really well made. They had cute headbands and scarves too!
The clothes were pretty cute too…
The children’s clothing was SO adorable.
I really wanted to get a sweater for my daughter but it was $30 and a little jacket was $50! So maybe Grandma will make a trip to Target soon? The clothing does feel reeeeally nice though so it is probably worth the price, even though that is high for Target.
*Update* – My mom just emailed me this after reading my post. “If grandma makes a trip to target, she definitely WILL NOT come home with any missoni items for Emma! That stuff is hideous!” Haha, well there goes that idea!
I really wanted some of their p.j.’s too…
The pajama pants felt so incredibly soft and I think I rubbed my face with them. I don’t remember if they were $20 or $30? I’m just a cheapo. But writing this I’m really tempted to go back for the PJ’s. Good pajamas are just necessary in the world.
Oh, and they have really cute shoes too.
I also really liked the bedding that I saw.
I’m thinking about that bedding set for my stepdaughter’s room?
So what did this cheapo come home with? I did get my daughter the rain boots…
Even though we haven’t had ANY rain, the girl loves her shoes and wore them for 2 hours straight when we got home. :)
Then my little treat was this…
And I’m willing to bet my mom had a pair of pants or something that looked like that cup back in the day.
I also got these…
My coffee and coke just taste better in pretty mugs and cups. Aren’t they cute!!
So those are my Missoni treasures. I felt like I hit the jackpot or something since I was able to come home with a few things. I wonder how long this craze will last? I like the adrenaline rush it gives.
And now, you have to tell me if you went to Target yesterday to get any of the Missoni items. Was there anything left at your store? What do you think of the new Missoni line? Did you see any crazy ladies running around trying to steal your stuff? Speaking of that, head on over and read Myra’s post about her Missoni adventure and antics. You’re gonna crack up!
Power to the zig-zags!
xxoo,
Decorchick!

I’ve never heard of this brand before. Very colorful but I could never wear those zig-zags! I love the boots on your daughter – too cute!
Heidi @ Show Some Decor says
Ha ha! My Target was sold out of nearly everything as well, but I loved the pjs too– put them on my “when I have some mad money” list. And I would totally have come home with those cute little wellies, and I don’t even have a little one to put them on any more! :)
Enjoy your day, Emily!

I want those rain boots!!! How stinkin cute!!! I’m not so sure this fat girl can pull off tho whole zig zaggy stripe thing, altho I did fall in love with that one sweater. And I totally heaqr ya on the pretty cups and mugs….I am the same way and collect coffee mugs it seems….the have to be really fat and round or tall……I don’t do normal sized mugs……lol. Enjoyed your post….have a great day!!
Lauren@SimplyLKJ says
I refused to fight the madness! What a zoo. While I think the items are fun, I wasn’t going to fight the crowds to purchase something that is that trendy and won’t last…I just cleaned an entire basement of that kind of stuff out! LOL
chris says
not my style and i guess advertising pays off….what angers me is the greedy people out there buying then go straight to ebay and resale for dble and triple the price……i mean seriously another trend that will just fade away and we will see it in the goodwill stores next yr…..don’t get me wrong this stuff will look cute on alot girls….
cassie {hi sugarplum} says
Oh honey, anything you’re thinking about getting, is already gone! I went at 11 and there wasn’t one single thing left! not kidding. Even online only has a handful of items left. I managed to get through the site between crashes and order some stuff, but I’ve yet to get a confirmation, so it’s not looking good!

WTH is the deal with Massoni!? I don’t find it appealing at all! It looks like they threw the most horrible colors together and made zig zags with them, making them a puking array of 70’s patterns… ugh. Can’t wait to STOP hearing about Massoni.
Claygirlsings says
I’m with your mom! I love a good chevron, but the cacophony of colors in the Missoni line are not attractive to me!
For the record, I’d never heard of Missoni until yesterday when Twitter lit up about it. Not impressed.
Lucy says
I hadn’t heard of this line until I saw the news last night. For some reason this line reminds me of a clothing line called Coogi– has anyone heard of it before? Perhaps its just a Chicago thing, I don’t know I’m not exactly a trendsetter, lol. Anyway, I love the rain boots they are adorable paired with that little yellow dress your little one had on. I have a feeling someone will soon recreate those mugs and maybe even the glasses.
Vivienne @ The V Spot says
I guess it’s not just me… Your mom agrees with me too. I just can’t get on the Missoni zig-zag bandwagon. (Although the rain boots are cute!)
Vicki says
My sister called me after she went to Target yesterday morning, not knowing what was going on with the Mossini craze. She told me that apparently we have hit the over 50 age and no longer are aware of the current trends. It’s ok with me. I don’t like the stuff, too retro. And as my husband says it reminds him of his grandmas scratchy alfghans!
Kendra says
I agree with your Mom…HIDEOUS!
GuerrinaWaters-Hernandez says
I grew up in the 60s-70s and I never saw (or wore) this design! I agree with Vicki’s husband about chevron afghans! The cutest thing are the rain boots!

Well, I was around for the original Missoni craze and I didn’t like it much then. Its just too busy for me. So, I guess that means I’m not going to partake now. If Target is selling it that quickly, every third person will have zigzags on. That means when one is wearing same … someone will say ‘Target?’ (wink-wink) But, admittedly there are a few cute things. My favorites would have to be the boots also.
chris says
ive never heard of it honestly. i have seen a few celebrity’s wear it and wondered why? i think i could do a coffee mug or make up bag, but i will not be chasing after it. i get more of a rush ignoring whatever people call “a hot trend” it repells me because once i have the “it” item i think “do i really want it or do i want it because others tell me i want it?” ya know?
but your lil gal looks super cute in the rain boots!
Erica Hyatt says
I’m SO with your mom on this!! I too think it’s hideous!! The stuff for the kids and the rainboots are cute, but there is no way I would put those patterns on my body!
You’re little one is precious in those little rain boots!!
Sylvie @ Gourmande in the Kitchen says
Love those glasses you got! Those other things they had at Target, eh, not so much. A little too loud… to each his own!
Pam Pike says
Love the boots!!! I was at Target yesterday and did notice the clothing. Like your Mom I didn’t dig it. Yes, I’m probably your Mom’s age too. lol
Cici says
I went today and had to get my daughter the purple/green/black skirt with beret, socks and scarf…too cute to pass up! I also picked up two votive holders. I didn’t think that I would like the design when I saw it online, but the children’s line was adorable and my daughter has the attitude to pull it all off! The votives were pretty and very heavy and will look great on my finished mantle. :) btw…love the daughter’s boots!
Erin@TwoStoryCottage says
I tried really hard to like it but I just didn’t for the most part. The only thing I truly liked was the shoes. They didn’t have my size or my daughter’s. I feel like I should love the stuff to buy it! Especially since it isn’t that cheap. :)
Ellen says
I finally got an online peek this afternoon. I was bummed I couldnt get into Target’s site yesterday. The kids stuff is really cute. Love the crib bedding.. but alas so kids here. Glad your daughter liked her boots. My 2 yr old niece got some striped boots at target last winter and she shows them to me everytime I visit. So cute!
Jamie says
Never been into Missoni yet I still had to check it out. So I went today for my first run to my local Target and most of the adult clothes were gone and some serving things, but I was able to come home with 2 mugs, some plates, and a milk crate bin. There were plenty of items left, but there are 4 Targets in the area and I heard the one in North Charleston and Mt. Pleasant were mad houses early in the morning yesterday and pretty sold out!! Crazy!…..I enjoy the funky colors and bold patterns, but don’t think I could pull off any of the clothes…I’ll settle for the fun decor & serving pieces!
Elisa @ The Self Life says
I did NOT know what a crazy town this was going to be — needless to say I’m glad I didn’t choose yesterday to do my grocery shopping, hah. (We live close to a Suppa Target.) SOME of the home stuff is cute but all those zig zags are giving me @_@
Also, I just read about the “Friday cup” concept — use a particular, usually FUN, cup on Fridays only to make Friday special and, yeah. The Missonis are TOTALLY FRIDAY CUPS.
Darleen ~ Places In The Home says
Kudos on your goodies. I saw the set of three mixing bowls in a magazine last week and they did catch my eye. Triple “K” reaction, kinda kitchy, kinda retro, kinda pricey. I tweeted a few nights ago about the anticipation building & the buzz throughout both the fashion & design communities and the response was off the charts. I get it but I don’t get it. I will say this, I’m so impressed with the masters who generated & created the excitement- Brilliant! That’s the one piece of Missoni I’d like to have :)
Darling picture of your daughter in her new rain boots.
Margie says
I’m another one who does not think it’s all that. Not worth the price to me. In the end, it’s from Target. “Wow, that’s nice where’s it from?” “target.” “Target, how much did you pay?” “$50 for the skirt.” “Oh.” Thats how I see a Convo going.. :-P I’m in my 20s it’s not an age thing.
griffingirl says
Apparently, I live under the rock next door to Myra because I had no idea what all the buzz was about and I really still don’t ‘get it’! LOL! I’m just sayin’ a little zigzag goes a long way (my eyes hurt) But, I love Target!
Cici says
She was so excited last night when I did a big reveal of her goodies. She got dressed in them right away! Of course the scarf and beret were her favs and she was really hoping the socks were arm warmers :) Maybe when she is all decked out in her outfit I will send a pic!
Marin D says
Uh, I don’t get it either. :) And I had no idea about it. LOL. Guess I am out of touch with the hotness. I do like the bedding stuff and maybe a piece of the kids stuff could work but other than than, eh. I agree with many of the other posters.
Courtney says
This cracked me up. Especially about grandma saying it’s hideous and that she had pants that looked like that! Our store was wiped by 8:05. I did snag some zag for the little one. And maybe a robe for me. Couldn’t resist.
emily says
I’ve been out of town, so I missed out on the Missoni craziness! But whichever store you went to sure had a great selection! I am a big fan of it, in moderation of course! Those PJs are calling my name!

Oh man! I am having a flash back to my mom’s closet when I was little!

Up here in Canada we don’t have Target yet but ITS COMING!!!! and we can’t wait. They bought out our Zellers and we lost Kmart years ago so now we have only Walmart and everything good seems to be at Target!!! I hope the fantasy is true!
