The IKEA Rug That I Regret Not Buying

So, we went to IKEA yesterday. On a Sunday. Crazytown. I always try to plan my trips to IKEA on the weekdays when the madness is less, the lines aren’t a mile long, and when the bathrooms are actually in working order.

But we went on a whim because there was a particular rug I wanted to get that I saw online. This one.

But for some reason, I read the size of the rug wrong online and thought it was bigger. It’s actually only about 4×5.

Then I thought a 4×5 rug for $129 was pretty steep.

But I can’t get it out of my head.

Those are my colors. My “jam.”

I thought it would be so fun to put in our homeschool room and I was already starting to get visions and inspirations from this rug on how to decorate the classroom area. We will just be doing a portion of the gameroom upstairs, not the full room by the way. I think. Don’t hold me to that.

With part of IKEA’s A/C out, a crazy amount of people just strolling the aisles very slowly, and 2 tired hungry kids, we left. Maybe their A/C wasn’t actually out, but it sure felt like it!

So what do you think? Should I make a trip back?

xxoo,

Yes because it could be used to teach fractions and triangles plus it’s nice!

No, it isn’t that great. Unless you still need other stuff from there I wouldn’t go back.

Yes, how funny when I first saw the picture of it, I immediately thought that would be a great rug for your home school room rug!

Just one word…NOPE! I get what the others above me have said, but it looks like a plain woven rug that someone has taken a hoop and loop tool to and stitched on the pattern. A plain indoor outdoor rug from Lowe’s , Home depot or overstock can be stenciled with the same pattern in the same colors. I bet you could get a much bigger rug than that Ikea rug for $129. Your blog inspires me…so do what you do best…DIY that sucker!

Exactly what I was going to say. If the size isn’t the right size, then don’t get it, you will regret it.
But you can DIY that rug if you think the pattern and colors are what you want.

No. I’m sure the is a better, cuter, perfect one out there for your room.

If you must have it, DIY it in the size you want as stated above a few times!

I personally wouldn’t buy it for that price. I read your entry today, Tuesday, and had just read on Monday, about something similar, with pillows. Found the link:

When my boys were younger I wanted a “football” rug. Couldn’t find the PERFECT one so I made one. I took a large “grass green” carpet remnant, taped off and painted the yard and goal lines, stenciled the numbers and BAM…perfect football rug! I just used latex paint and it lasted for YEARS!
You can make a geo rug…one you will be much happier with and won’t feel bad about when it is time to “dispose” of it down the road.

I would try to do a knock off. Doesn’t look incredibly difficult and it would be cheaper.

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

How could you NOT with these gorgeous colorings?! A red and blue Merle are so unique, and they are the sweetest!🐶🐶

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
