Readiness and Expectancy

Well this is the week.  The week of Blissdom.  Hopefully y’all aren’t sick of hearing about it yet.  But, I’m ready and expecting good things to happen this week.  I am extremely excited to meet my online friends, and make new friends.  I don’t want it to feel cliquish and don’t want anyone to feel left out.  I am new… View Post

Pretty In Pink…The Mantel

I wasn’t even going to decorate for Valentine’s day, but silly Beth decided to have another mantel link party coming up on Monday, and well, I’ll do anything for my mantel…and Beth.  I wasn’t ready to part with my winter mantel just yet, but I love how the Valentine one came out! So here is the very foo-fooey (how do… View Post

This Was On Our Doorstep The Other Day…

Husband: “Why is there a white painted door on our doorstep?” Me: “Umm, I don’t know, maybe it’s a sign from God to paint our cabinets?” Husband: probably rolls his eyes. When I had first talked about painting our cabinets white about a month ago in this post, I think that same day I called the paint contractor I have… View Post

Real Homes, Real Messes, Real Life…Link Party!

Well the time has come to show off our messes.  Are you excited??  Don’t worry I’ll go first… Here’s the office with all sorts of stuff on the desk and Christmas stuff on the floors from ohhhh 3 weeks ago now? A closeup of desk junk because we all have inquiring minds. Our master closet, sadly, on a daily basis:… View Post

Real Homes, Real Messes, Real Life…Link Party Announcement!

Hi all! If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you know that I decided to have my first ever link party coming up on Monday, January 17.  Having a link party is scary because you don’t know if anyone will show up to party or not, but that’s ok, I’m putting myself out there.  And I had this idea… View Post

Master Bedroom Makeover (Again)

I’m beyond excited to show you our new master bedroom…again!  I explained in this post why I decided to change it up again. But the biggest change in here was just paint.  Paint is your friend, and a cheap friend.  When I redid our master bedroom back in June last year, I did love that color (SW Rainwashed), but after… View Post

A Winter Mantel

Transitioning your Christmas decor into winter decor can be a bit tricky, but if you just do what you think is pretty, then it will work. :) That’s what I did with my winter mantel this year. I kept most everything from my Christmas mantel on there, but just added a mirror that I got from the Christmas clearance at… View Post

Pretty Book Decor {A Ballard Knock-Off}

Everyone loves decorating with books.  It’s an inexpensive decor item, especially when you buy them at the thrift stores. As I was admiring the new Ballard’s catalog the other day, I came across these Antique Book Bundles they are selling. How easy to recreate those right?  And it won’t cost you $18 or $25 like they are charging for a… View Post

2011 Realistic Goals

Instead of the obvious dieting/exercising resolution or goals that people make every year, I made some different ones because dieting would have been too predictable.  Sure it’s good to eat better and live a healthier lifestyle, but if those were my new year’s resolutions, I would have already failed miserably.  Especially since I’ve eaten fried pickles twice this week.  And… View Post

Embracing The Wood {And A Mini Kitchen Makeover}

Happy new year everyone!  The new year around here is bringing some much needed de-cluttering and organizing and it feels so good.  I am determined to get rid of a lot of stuff that I am no longer using, accessorize less, and just enjoy simplicity.  I still will have accessories, but hopefully in a less cluttery way.  We’ll see how… View Post

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
