Fabulous Guest #2 {Emily A. Clark}

Hi everyone, I’m excited to have the lovely and talented designer, Emily A. Clark guest post today while I’m still away.  She will be showing you a gorgeous transformation she did in her own home, which I know you’ll love.  Take it away Emily!

I’m Emily from the blog, Emily A. Clark (original, I know) and am happy that “the other Emily” asked me to blog for her while she’s away. I thought I would take a moment to detail one of my major house projects last year–our home office makeover.  The tranformation was slow (and done on a major budget!), but turned a room used mainly to store boxes and junk into a functional workspace for my interior decorating business.

I had always envisioned a kelly green and charcoal gray color scheme for the space, and had hoped to incorporate lots of storage.  I started with this idea board, and as you’ll see, some of my plans changed along the way. . .
I began by painting the walls Trout Gray by Benjamin Moore:
My favorite find was this campaign dresser, which I painted Fresh Grass by Benjamin Moore. The drawers provided much needed storage and the color provided a fun focal point.
I wanted to personalize the space (since I knew I would be spending lots of time in it!), so I created a wall gallery of some of my favorite photos.
I was also in much need of a space to store books, design magazines, etc., so I used IKEA’s Expedit shelving.  I love the way the white pops against the dark walls.  To create height, I spray painted an old frame and layered it with some framed artwork.
My original idea board called for black and white horizontal curtains.  Once the room was near completion, however, I felt like I needed more color on the other side of the room to balance out the green campaign dresser.  I ended up going with Covington’s “Wilmington” fabric for a more patterned look on the window.
I also created a small sitting area by using a vintage, tufted chair (a Craigslist find) and a desk chair that I found at a yard sale for $10.  I like mixing vintage pieces with more modern pieces, like the parsons desk that I ordered from Overstock.
And, just so you can get a full appreciation for the entire makeover, this is how the room looked before I started:

And, the finished result after months of thinking, painting, thrifting, etc.:

Thanks to Emily for letting me share this project!  To see more of my home and client projects, drop by my blog.
Isn’t that a gorgeous office??  So fresh and modern, yet very functional.  I am in love with that paint color too!  So hop on over to Emily’s blog and take a look around.  You’ll find beautiful spaces Emily has created in their own home, as well as spaces she has decorated for her clients.  She has great taste and you will love them all…and her!  Thanks so much Emily!
xxoo,

WOW!!! I love it. I love when people pull together color combos that would seem to never work together. That green pops and the black and white touches against the gray wall… amazing!!! You did such a great job making each cubicle of the shelving look so balanced and thought out. It could very easily look cluttered, but it definitely doesn’t.
    Thanks for sharing.

I never tire of looking at that office! Each time I see it I find something new to drool over. If Emily were my neighbor, I’d be tapping on her door waaay more than she’d like!

Hope you’re having fun in Nashville, Emily!

Wow! I’ve been looking for inspiration for my own home office and have already painted the walls a very similar gray color. Couldn’t decide whether to go the kelly green route or the yellow route but now I’ve been inspired!! Thanks Emily!

This leads to very upset users reaching their tipping point and finally leaving the
group or turning off notifications. There are a variety
of different shipping services and options available, so you should shop around
to find a service that is both affordable and timely. It is a
must to create an online business profile for your company.

2 months later, and it’s still hard. So very har 2 months later, and it’s still hard. So very hard. It is the strangest, most emptiest feeling one could have, and one that not everyone understands.

Tonight was the 3rd griefshare meeting that I’ve attended, and that does help to be around others who have lost someone close. But it is also so painful hearing their stories. And it’s a night during the week that I’m forced to think about how he’s no longer here. It’s helped me to realize all of the thoughts and actions we have are normal, and the things we do that are odd to others, are actually part of the process.

I haven’t been able to wear these shirts of his yet (he wore them every single day. The red one was his “fancy” one), but I’m glad I have them. It’s just really crappy I can’t see him in them any longer. 💔

This is a pain like no other. I watched him take This is a pain like no other.

I watched him take his final breath at 7:24 this morning. The scent of him is still so palpable.

Gone too soon, and years stolen from his wife and grandkids.

We live in the same small neighborhood, right around the corner on the next street. Now the girls can’t ride their 4-wheelers to go see him. We can’t just swing by to pick him up. He can’t go on our walks anymore. There are lots of no-longers, and it is crushing my heart.

Who am I going to call now when I have a question on how to fix something? He had a solution for everything usually saving us hundreds of dollars. Everything was fixable to him, rather than hiring someone. And often he would find the answer on YouTube.

Who am I going to text with when the Astros make a good or bad play during the next World Series?

I want to hear his voice again. I want to go over and cut his hair again. I want to make him another pie for his birthday and Father’s Day.

It hurts so much.

I love you Daddy.
