Oh Sweet Succulents

I have a new love affair and it’s Succulents.  I know I’ve been talking about plants a lot lately.  But when I get on a roll, I get on a roll.  There’s something about their unique looks and easy care that’s appealing.

Here is a sort-of terrarium I made for our house and just used a big hurricane type of jar I had already, but it doesn’t have a lid.  I planted this on Mother’s Day and it’s still doing well.

Then for Mother’s Day I made my Mom a terrarium.

That picture was taken in-progress obviously, and I hadn’t added the layer of moss on top yet.  But hers came out really pretty, and is doing ok, we think.  It keeps getting a lot of condensation which they are supposed to do, but it doesn’t go away unless she wipes it.  Hopefully it will be ok?

And here is my latest succulent that I put outside.

Isn’t that crazy looking, but so pretty?  It’s a Senecio-Himalaya succulent and I got it at our nursery. Love love love it!

I also found that our nursery has a MUCH bigger selection of succulents rather than the big home improvement stores, but maybe that’s just my local store.  I’d check out your nursery (if you have a good one) first because they tend to have some really exotic ones.  And everyone wants an exotic succulent right?

Are any of you succulent lovers?  If you have any tips I need to know let me know! I know they take very little water, so that’s nice. :)

For more info and an easy tutorial on how to make a terrarium, Sarah just did a post so check it out.  No need for me to recreate it.  Hope you all enjoy the long holiday weekend…and buy some succulents!! :)

xxoo,

Decorchick!

I’m fascinated by the succulents! So many choices! I may give up on my African violets and try those. I already have the containers. Love how yours turned out!

I love succulents. My favorite are the Hens and Chicks. I’ve wanted to make some kind of terrarium but I worry that our apartment won’t be warm enough for them in the winter but maybe I could just bring it to work and put it in my office during the winter.

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
