Ever find yourself looking through old pictures and reminisce about things, whether it be your family, children, and in this case, decor? Well that’s what happened to me yesterday, so let’s take a little journey through some of the “looks” our living room has had.
This was not long after we moved into our house.
That was hand-me-down furniture, and obviously during my baby shower. :) And if you peek out into the windows back there, it’s so crazy how much our landscaping has grown since that picture was taken about 2 1/2 years ago!
Then we thought we “upgraded” our furniture off of a Craigslist “find.”
Worst purchase ever. One side of the couch totally sagged. Luckily it wasn’t expensive, and luckily, I re-sold this set on Craigslist for more than we paid. Ha! Just like by $50 or something, nothing crazy.
Then we saved up (and used the craigslist money) and bought our leather furniture (which I still love).
Then the walls were painted camel. Everywhere.
And the rest is history.
Pretty crazy huh? I love looking back and seeing how much my style has changed since the “good ole days”.
And while I was looking through my pics I found this one that cracked me up (and I maybe even shed a tear or two)…
My sweet chunky monkey Emma just chilaxin’ in Daddy’s recliner. She used to look SO much like her daddy when she was that age. Yep, the good ole days. :)

Isn’t it crazy to look back at our decorating from years gone by? I think your room looked nice all along the way! But I am loving the new wall! I have white trim envy these days! I have hard wood floor envy too:)

You didn’t say and I can’t find it…. where did you purchase your leather furniture? It’s fabulous.

Thanks for taking us on the journey. I hope you continue to document the evolution of this room through the years. I can’t believe what a huge difference the curtains made. It went from builder grade to up-scale. You have given me hope for the future!!

I love seeing the evolution of places! I can’t wait until I have my After picture. Right now I’m still in the Before stage. (Been in our first house under 2 mos) It looks great! Thanks for sharing

I had that same chair (the greenish chair-and-a-half)!! It seemed so comfortable in the store, but now when I sit on it it’s awful! Your living room is gorgeous!

…And please disregard my misspelling of my blog name above. So embarrassing…

Looks so great! So fun to take a look back. We had a party when we first moved in and when I look back at those photos I cringe at how unfinished and boring it looked . . .not that it’s finished yet!!! Fun post.

I currently have your original hand-me-down couches and hate them. Sadly, I paid for them, which would be my worst purchase. We are saving up for a new. I love your leather furniture. It gives me hope!

Saw your current LV room on Pinterest and stopped by to check out your room. I just received your rug a few weeks ago and love it!! but am wondering if it will ever stop shedding? No sitting on the floor for awhile or we are covered in blue hairs :( I love the progression you have made, I didn’t even realize you had two rugs until I saw your room reveal post! That living room wall is AMAZING! Great job with your space, so glad you have found the real you :) … not too far behind you

Omgoodness I had to keep going back to your old pics to make sure I was looking at the same room!! It looks amazing!! Your new room reminds me of the ones I see in magazines of upscale NYC apartment homes. :)

I love your blog!! I actually found it when I googled “SW Balanced Beige” and I have since looked at every single post!!! Based on my research, and your blog, we are going to paint the majority of our new house in BB. The walls and ceiling are currently this awful peachy-beige color. What color are your ceilings? Would you recommend going lighter on the ceiling? Our ceiling is much lower than yours so the color will make a big impact. LOVE your style. Keep the posts coming. :)

What a huge change! There is hope for my house, after all! ?

The transformation is amazing! I love the leather couches! Can you tell us where you purchased them?
Guerrina says
Love the latest look the best! Very upscale, but remains a room I’d want to “live” in! Great job! Gives me hope for my home. Especially love the white board wall.
Amber says
I love this post because it makes me realize everyone starts somewhere and it really does take time for the ‘perfect’ decor to evolve.
The wainscoting (is that what it is?) is excellent, too.

Your living room is fabulous!

Your living room progression is Awesome! I LOVE the room.

Hello! I absolutely LOVE your living room! I pinned it awhile back and have been replicating it in my new house. Question. I purchased the same blue rugs (they are one of the exact things I picked from your room , as well as the rosette pillows), and the white part is NOT white, but khaki/beige. Is yours white?? I am totally totally bummed! It doesn’t stand out as much and isn’t nearly as modern looking. wondering if i should return and try again with 2 more….thanks!
