Because It’s All About Jesus

Christmas, that is.  I wanted to make something for us to be reminded of what Christmas is truly all about.  I’ll be the first to admit it is difficult sometimes to not get caught up with all of the presents, pretty lights, baking, ribbon, parties, photo shoots, Christmas trees, garland…you get the idea I’m sure. :)  And yes, I love all of those things.  LOVE.  I do all of the above because it’s such a glorious occasion, and because I’m a wee bit obsessed with decorating.  But, put all that aside for a moment, because this is what I really want to do…

I want to remember to give Him praise during this season and every season.  And I put this on our entry table so there is no getting around it and we will ALWAYS see it.  :)  People that come through our door and our kids will be reminded.  And maybe even someone who isn’t a believer that comes to our home, I hope it stops them and makes them go “hmmm.”  But in a good way. :)

Don’t worry, I won’t get all preachy on you.  But I am not ashamed either. Some of you may even be a little mad at God right now, unhappy with your circumstances, or just plain struggling.  But He deserves our praise, even in the midst of all of the storms.

Ok, ok, so wanna know how I made it? :)  To see another lovely Christmas banner, check out Shanty 2Chic’s Joy to the World banner. Love it!

I bought some of this lovely cardstock at Hobby Lobby for $5.

It’s very sparkly and glittery, and the best part is that it is NOT messy.  I don’t do well with glitter everywhere.

Then I used my handy dandy Silhouette machine and cut out my letters on white cardstock.  Me and the Silhouette are becoming great friends.  It’s pretty addictive.

Then popped out my letters and glued them with modge podge to my glittery square paper.

Used my pinking shears around all of the edges for a little more detail…

Then just used a hole punch to make two holes at the top, and strung with ribbon. Those poinsettias I used are from the Dollar Store.

And if you have an inquiring mind like me, I just used those mini command hooks to attach the ribbon to the mirrors.  Those things are wonderful!

And voila!

So join in with me and let’s praise Him, because He is worthy.

Amen.

I love your banner! When my girls were little I made a birthday cake and we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus. After all, Christmas IS the celebration of his birth, so why not? I love your banner against the mirror-it looks great there!

I love it Emily. What a great reminder too. I can TOTALLY identify with you. Many years back at one of David and my first apartments. I covered our front door so that it looked like a gift wrapped present. I made a HUGE tag on it that said “Happy Birthday Jesus” I did it for the same reasons. One day a neighbor I had never met came to tell me that her 6 year old daughter had drawn a Christmas picture at school. It was of my door. The neighbor wanted to thank me because she too had gotten lost in all the holiday craziness. But because of my door and her daughters drawing she took time to sit down and tell her daughter the TRUE Christmas story. It’s really true what they say, “even if it touches ONE life it was worth it”

BTW David isn’t here to proof my grammar so my apologies!! I know your a grammar hound! :)

I like it! So simple yet elegant, love the rich colors too. I agree too, as a believer of Him, I have observed that the real essence of celebrating the season seemed pointless because His not the center. I do hope everyone realizes this. Enjoy the season with love and peace!

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
