Tobacco Road Formula

I’ve received a lot of emails asking for the Tobacco Road formula I used here and here, so I thought I’d post it for everyone to see. :)

I don’t know if it’s a perfect match to Nester’s formula, but I think it’s pretty close.  I tried having it matched at Lowe’s several different times but it just wasn’t right.  It was beige. So anyway, my Sherwin Williams had it in their computer system, but I tweaked it a bit and added a tad more gold and raw umber, so that’s why it’s a custom color match.   This really is my all time favorite color.  I could just kiss it!!

So have you used Tobacco Road before?  Have you even heard of Tobacco Road?  It’s a discontinued Duron color and it’s hard to find.  I really was hunting for it. For days.  But now I just made it easier for you by posting my formula, so yay for y’all!  You can just print out this picture and take it to your Sherwin Williams and have them make it :)

*Edited to add: I forgot to mention that I did take Nester’s picture of her TR can to Lowe’s, but they told me that wasn’t a formula?  They said those numbers aren’t the numbers they use to mix the paint color.  So that is why I don’t know if my SW formula is like Nester’s and she’s the queen of TR! :)

xxoo,

I have a swatch of Tobacco Road up right now. I think I’m going with Whole Wheat instead. My kitchen is yellow, so TR didn’t look right.

I’m looking for a perfect golden beige brown, so I may just get a sample of this….it looks really similar to ‘Prairie Dance’ from lowe’s, which is what I have been considering. :) I’m ready to warm up the colors in my home…maybe it’s that fall nesting thing!

I am happy for you that you were able to decipher the code for her Tobacco Road. Your house is so pretty and you do great tutorials of how you have completed projects — You have a creativity gift. I love your kitchen and all of your vignettes — especially those now involving Fall. Keep up the good work, everyone loves your ideas!
    Best regards,

I recently found your blog and love your style! :) I’ve been looking for a neutral goldish-toned (but not GOLD-gold :) paint color for my hallway all summer. Everything I can find seems so yellow! I’m most leaning toward Valspar’s New England Yellow, but worried it will end up looking like Big Bird came over to paint. *grin* Anyway, Tobacco Road is beautiful and I was just wondering if you knew where I could find a paint sample?!? I’ve also heard good things about Plantation Beige… hmmm…

Thanks so much! Plantation Beige is supposed to be really nice too. I guess you could just take the formula I posted up to Sherwin Williams and have them make you a sample size. They should be able to figure out the mix from the gallon I had made. Good luck and let me know! :)

    Hey Emily,

I am so sorry the same thing has happened to you, it really does come with the territory. Its a shame! We should and would be very flattered but when they don’t link its a slap in the face. I would send that email you wrote and say Please pay my credit for my idea, or something. I cannot beleive she would email you questions and you would help her and answer her and still nothing. THAT IS JUST shocking. This gal has left me nice comments and such and follows my LarsenLoves blog… she re-created more then one of my decorating ideas involved with a craft. Its almost identical. It really makes me feel robbed. I am so sorry again to you. Don’t stop sharing your talent ev-ah! HUGS, Jen OH’ and thanks too!

I was just at Sherwin WIlliams today ( 1-4-2011) and asked about Tabacco Road. I told them it was a discontinued Duron color. The girl brought out a paint chip book with “Graham Paints” printed on it. It has the Tabacco Road and the Plantation Beige right next to each other on the pant strip. I asked her if that was the same as the Duron color since it said Graham Paint on it and she said that it is the same color. She said that a handful of manufacturers use the same paint swatches so the duron and the grahams is the same. See here: http://www.colorcharts.org/ccorg/resources/results.aspx?find=VGX0-2CPP-7K95
I hope that helps anyone looking for those colors. She couldn’t give me the paing chip but she did say she could mix up a sample for me if I wanted it. The color in my living room is very close to it and I really like it.

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
