The Purging Has Begun

After getting the last bit of Christmas decor down last week (I still have some up), I went crazy a couple of days and just started loading up bags. And more bags. And there are more bags I want to fill. I am so sick of CRAP! I know everyone goes through this every single year at the exact same time, so I don’t know why I am surprised. I mean, you would think I would be better about purging all throughout the year by now, instead of trying to cram a years worth of crap build-up into 2 days. But sadly no, apparently that’s just how I do it. :)

It started with clearing out toys in our living room. That’s a whole other post for another day. But I emptied 2 big baskets and felt pretty accomplished. Now we just have 1 toy chest in the living room and that’s some good progress.

Empty-Crates

And then came the clothes. We are just overflowing with them it seems. Kids outgrow things too quickly! So this next lovely picture is what I have in the back of the van ready to go. I need to drop it off already because there is some mysterious toy that keeps making noises in the car and it scares me because I forget anything is back there.

Donation-Bags

Might not look like much to you, but it is so liberating. I need to do this with so much decor and accessories too. Maybe one day we’ll actually be able to use that linen closet upstairs for actual linens?

So nope, nothing pretty to show you today. Just some garbage bags filled with items to make the next recipient a happy camper. :)

Have you been purging lately too?

xxoo,

Decorchick!

You did good. We did the use thing two weeks ago. It is bad when you donate so much but still have too much I’m your home. Trying to organize, simplify, and donate is always a good thing.

    Hi there,

I love your post! I have been there and done that. Lucky for us we have moved so much in our married life that with each move I have had to purge…and purge plenty. LOL I don’t know how we accumulate so much “stuff” but we do. It’s liberating to give it away or sell it on EBAY (which I have done and at least made something off of the items that were like new that I got tired of) and once you are in the habit purging, you won’t be able to let it take over your house anymore! LOL

Good luck on purging, and remember “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure”. LOL

    You did good, Miss Em.
I’ve did purges over the years but I’m about to start a big one. I’m so tired of looking at all this junk.
No one is enjoying it. No one cares about it and the worst part…No one will miss it when it is gone. ha.

Guess what I was doing this week end? same thing! Cleared out the master bedroom closet, because I need to paint it. I need to go thru my clothes, I hve another bedroom with more of my things, half of which do not fit. Also cleaned out the kitchen cabinet bottoms only, will get to the top where bowls, plates and glasses are.

I need to make a trip to Good Will or the Salvation Army. My old decor stuff I should have a garage sale, but it is too cold to think about that.

You done goood girl, keep it up.

Awesome job on the purging. I went through this last fall and it took me a full month to finish inside the home top to bottom.

What a great feeling to see less clutter and no more unused junk. Happy New Year!

Yes I totally agree with you all.
You need to set up a time where no one is around and use the garbage bag style and chuck all unwanted stuff especially children toys in garbage bags. Its unbelievable how much stuff accumulate so quickly and children do not bother to play with anymore.

Don’t forget once ready chuck everything out for garbage collection, since children might discover your clear out and may want toys back. Once gone, gone. You feel more accomplished and happy with less stuff.

This is what me and my sister done to our children. She helped me do mine and I helped her do hers. We ended up with 10 garbage bags full of unwanted stuff which we disposed off in the dumpster.

If you need some tips feel free to ask.
      Thanks

I feel the same way when I get to purge stuff we don’t need. It feels amazing! I am doing a deep cleaning of our little apartment that can easily be filled with things we don’t need.

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

How could you NOT with these gorgeous colorings?! A red and blue Merle are so unique, and they are the sweetest!🐶🐶

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
