Behind The Scenes

I know that y’all know what I do, obviously. I do fun stuff to our house and write about it and you all get to hear about it.  But what you don’t hear about probably often enough is what goes on behind the scenes, and HOW I am actually able to write about everything and have it disperse on the www. I just felt in my spirit today to give a little recognition to the guy who actually makes that all possible…

Mr. Handsome Techy Guy. Otherwise known as my husband Randy.

I am fortunate because I get to talk to y’all daily and communicate through y’alls comments and such and you can tell me how much you love or hate something. But the guy who operates my blog behind the scenes and does all of that not fun stuff should be praised too don’t you think? It’s not easy, and especially not easy for him when I am panicking that something isn’t working properly. But he always gets it done. And life can resume then.

He is the one who built my blog 3 1/2 years ago, and designed it. I had the same design for 3 years up until we gave it a makeover a few months ago. So he’s a huge part of Decorchick! too and I want us all to see how important he is. After all, I just write the posts and do my photos. Everything else he does and I’d be lost without him.

Have y’all ever thought about how these blogs run and how it happens? It’s pretty crazy! Code this, html this, openhook that, SEO mumbo jumbo…I could go on.

So, this one’s for you babe. We love you and all that YOU do to make me look good.

And p.s.-Wouldn’t he make a great “Heisenberg” a/k/a Walter White? I think I’ll get him a black Fedora and put his glasses on and he’ll be set what do you think?

xxoo,

Decorchick!

Thanks Randy for all you do so Emily can endulge us! Emily, great idea to call him into the spotlight. Many of us have men that are behind the scenes who take the kids, cook dinner, and support us in our blogging endeavors. Hats off to all the men that help make it happen!

It’s really sweet to give open recognition to your husband, I know he does it out of love for you and your interests but I’m sure he feels much appreciated, especially now. Kudos to you both for the wonderful job you both do!!

You are lucky to have a helper near by!! I’m the techie in my family. I designed the look-n-feel of my blog and tweaked code to do a little extra. My hubbie saw my blog then proceeded to volunteer me to create a website for his car club! It can be very frustrating sometimes when things quit working and you have no idea why! Hats off to your adorable hubby for keeping your amazing blog up and running.

2 labradoodle puppies were NOT on my 2026 vision board, but here we are.🥰

How could you NOT with these gorgeous colorings?! A red and blue Merle are so unique, and they are the sweetest!🐶🐶

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
