Some New Additions

Hi everyone, thank you so much for the sweet comments on the patio!  We sure are enjoying the outdoor space now. It’s like a whole other room to decorate! :)

Today I thought I would share with you all a few new things I’ve added to our living room.  Not huge changes or anything, but I thought they were worth mentioning. :)

So here’s the living room before my new additions…

See that lamp on the right?   Well it broke.  Well, the little knob that you turn to turn the lamp on and off broke a while back.  So I went back to Hobby Lobby and they let me exchange it.

I love the new curvy lamp much more, and it goes better with the other lamp in here.

I probably should paint the other lamp finial white though after seeing this picture. :)

Then I also picked up this cutie for $25 at Homegoods a month or two ago.

I love it, and some of you may hate it but that’s ok.  It’s just a fun little retro foot stool to use until we get a new ottoman.  It’s very convenient to just move this around wherever you are sitting too so you have something to prop up your footsies on.  Heck, maybe I’ll just buy a bunch a little ottomans and poufs and throw them around in the living room instead of having a traditional coffee table or big ottoman. Hmmm…

And lastly, here’s my favorite new addition right now (probably because it’s the most recent).

The throw blanket, not the pillow. Still looking out for a new pillow for the chair. But I LOOOOOVE this new blanket. And it was a splurge from Z Gallerie because it was $60.  But it was so worth it. Seriously.  It’s a light cotton knit and extremely soft. And perfect for summer!  It is their Grid Throw if you are interested.  It also comes in orange and I loved it too.  I’m a big believer in having a good quality throw now, especially since my others have been cheapies.

And here’s a shot where you can see all 3 of them together.

I love fun stuff!

And before anyone starts hatin’ about that picture being too high, I think I’m going to fix that soon.  Promise. :)

Are y’all working on any new additions?  Fill me in!  Why can’t I just leave a room alone and actually finish the other things I have going on??  Goodness.

xxoo,

Decorchick!

Lookin’ good, Emily! I’m loving that new throw — it matches the rug perfectly — and pops off the dark brown! You’ve got such great taste!

I love how your room is coming together. I think family rooms are always changing because if y’all are anything like us we are ALWAYS in this room. The kids have a playroom, but our cocktail table makes a great place to build with legos or make a new artistic masterpiece.

I love the throw. I want to buy one, but I can’t make up my mind between the aqua or gray one. Also, love the shape of the lamp.

I love all your new items! The lamp is so chic and yet it compliments the warmth of the room so well. Your new throw is just the icing on the cake! I like the color and pattern, very nice. By the way what paint color is that on your walls? I really like it and think it would look nice in my tiny living room.

Gosh, is any room ever REALLY finished? I get bored and my taste shifts sometimes, so I”m perpetually “tweaking” my spaces. Keeps life interesting! Love the throw, btw. :)

I found you via Thrifty Decor Chick … and I have to say, love your fab ottoman, because … I bought two upholstered parson-style chairs from Home Goods in that same exact fabric!! How cool is that?! I liked the fabric so much, I found out who makes it and what it’s called — “Amelia Mulberry” by Richloom (although, the fabric is a little thicker and has more texture than the chairs’ fabric, and the colors are muted just a little). So, if you ever wanted to get a little to make a pillow or something, I know Fabric.com carries it. ^_^ Love the gallery wall. Good job!

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
