Faux Coral Outdoor Centerpiece

Well, luckily this week I haven’t had any more cabinet disasters, and that’s because I’ve been working outside on the patio!  I can’t wait to show you all the full reveal of that, but today I’m going to share a very simple and quick little centerpiece I put together for the patio.

Isn’t that piece of coral pretty??  Well, I’m sure you all have seen Beth’s genius tutorial on how to make pretty faux coral right? That’s where I got the idea from and thought it was so cute when she posted about it, so go check it out! I never would have thought to buy a piece of coral from the pet department at Wal-Mart and spray paint it, but luckily we have Beth’s ideas to copy. :)

Now back to the centerpiece. That piece of coral wasn’t always that pretty. It first looked like this.

So then I used a little bit o’ this that the Krylon team sent me to try out, and I looooove this color.

I first heard about this color when Mandi painted a dresser this beautiful coral, and I loved it so much and was dying to use it on something! You must go see Mandi’s dresser redo! I have a few other projects I want to use this color on because I’m on a coral and aqua kick right now.

Here is my piece of coral after it was painted.

Much better!

And then I threw a bunch of shells and starfish that I already had in a cute metal bowl stand thingy that I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby, and put the coral in the middle.

So simple but I love it!  And I know this turned out to be beachy, so just pretend those birds on the bowl are Pelicans okay?  :)

You probably want to see more of what the centerpiece is sitting on, so here’s a sneak peek of a new addition to our patio.

We got an awesome deal on some patio furniture off of Craigslist a few weeks ago and it was JUST what I was looking for!  It’s been so nice lounging outside now, and I’ll show you everything next week. :)

So have any of you joined the coral craze yet? Better hurry and head to the pet section (specifically the fish dept.) at Wal-mart! :)

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
