A Sea of Glass…The Summer Mantel

Y’all know how much I LOVE redoing our mantel right?  Well it was time for another switcheroo since summer is almost here (yay!), and so I wanted to bring in some bright cheery colors, and since I can’t get enough of yellow these days, yellow and aqua is what landed on the mantel this time.

And what’s even better is that I didn’t buy anything for it except for the fresh flowers! Most everything, like all of the aqua glass bottles and mirror were from our master bedroom when it was blue.  But now the bedroom isn’t blue anymore, it’s grey. :)  Blue walls I found out real quick I get tired of, but blue accessories here and there, I like.

The lemons were just to add a touch more yellow to this side of the mantel to even it out. :)

And a few more because I always go overboard with my mantel pics.

Do I dare say that this may be my favorite one since I think I say that each time I redo it?  :)  But what I do love the most about this mantel is that there is NO way I could have ever used these colors with the old camel colored walls.  And now these colors fit in perfectly with the new decor and colors throughout the house. Yay!  Neutral walls with whatever color you want as accents is such a great concept. I wish I would have understood that a few years ago. ;)

And if you aren’t familiar with all of this crazy camel wall talk, you can check out the Our Home tab and see all of the most recent makeovers to the house, with plenty of before and afters so you can see what I’m talking about. The entryway and the living room used to be camel. :)

I’ll be sharing this post at Layla’s Summer Mantel Party, Tatertots and Jello, The Shabby Chic Cottage, Funky Junk Interiors, Between Naps on the Porch and The Shabby Nest Frugal Friday. Also linking to Sarah’s Before and After Party: The Guest Room

i am in LOVE with that mirror. holy shmoley! that is the prettiest little (big) mirror i have seen!! and i love how casual and pretty the rest of the mantle is. also, i think it’s awesome that you added a mantle to a hallway without having a fireplace there. who says a mantle NEEDS to go over a fireplace? awesome. that’s what i say.

Love the blue & yellow color combo. And I have left my walls white. Can’t get any more neutral than that. But it is really because I can never make up my mind as to what color to paint the walls. And white goes with everything. Love the color or your wall.

Those are very nice colors. I really need color in my living room, but I have camel walls. We just moved into this apartment (downsizing) so I don’t think we can change them. Plus, everyone has camel walls with the white trim. I’ll keep watching you so you can help me out on this. Glad to have found you.

Gorgeous! Love the colors, and how nice that you already had everything you needed for it! Okay…also love that you created your own “mantel” just right there in the hallway. No fireplace needed. I’ve been a little sad looking at all of these gorgeous summer mantels because I don’t have a fireplace. But this gives me something to think about. Not sure I’d even have room for something like this in my tiny condo, but at least I can give it some thought.

I hope you’ll come link to the A2D Sunday Link Party!!

Your mantel is lovely and I couldn’t get enough pictures to look at! I’m with you, I learned in the past year that a blue room I do not love for long, but a neutral room with blue accents rocks my boat. The aqua and yellow of your decor goes perfectly, and gives a bright summery feel to your mantel. Thanks for sharing at Between Naps!

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
