My Version of the Ballard Alphabet Wreath

I am sure you all have seen the lovely alphabet wreath in Ballard’s new catalog right?  This one…

Well that is actually the one from their website, but the one in the catalog looks prettier.

Anyway, here is my version…

Yes, I know it’s not as grand as the Ballard wreath.  And I also know mine is not spruce. :)   So that’s why I didn’t really know if I could call it a knock-off?  But it’s similar, kind of? :)  I guess mine would be pine instead of spruce?

Anyway, here is how I made it.

I took one of the $5 initials from Hobby Lobby…

A very old wreath that no one bought in my garage sale…

Cut off some of the stems (branches?) and started gluing them on my initial.

And just keep gluing pieces till you have it all filled up, tie some ribbon, and hang!

Wow, I really need to clean that mirror better.  And I just realized we have a lot of A’s around the house.

Just a tip…since those particular initials are slightly heavier, they will wobble a little if you are just hanging with ribbon.  Just put those little double-sided sticky tape things on the back and you’ll be all set.

Want more? Ok.

So whatcha think?  I was pretty happy with it. :)  It would be pretty to lightly dust the ends with some metallic spray paint too, or even add a few pinecones.  I don’t think it’s too Christmasy to already have hanging up, do you?   But IT is almost here!! Yippee!!

I bet y’all are all wondering why I didn’t use one of the 20 trees we have in the garage huh?  Well the answer is because I knew not everyone would have a spare Christmas tree hanging around, and a spare wreath is much more likely to have around if you wanted to make this. :)

Ballard’s, are you proud, even though I didn’t use spruce, mine is half the size of yours, and mine only cost $5 to make?

Emily, I really like it! Honestly, I see no difference between yours and the Ballard one. Yours is just as nice, if not nicer. It’s also great how you used that old wreath. There’s a reason it didn’t sell on your garage sale! Thanks for sharing the neat idea!

I LOVE your take on such a classic idea!
I made one of these, too, a few years ago when I first saw them in the catalog! I wanted a large one, so my husband “volunteered” to make an iron form for me, and I just wrapped garland around and around until it was full. I tied ribbon to the back, but I actually hang it from the back of the wreath since it is heavy (the ribbon is just for looks, lol). It hangs above my fireplace every Christmas.

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
