She Did It Again

My Mom, that is.  Remember the cheeseburger cake she made last year?  Well I thought that was definitely blog-worthy material, and so is this.  This was one of the treats she made for Easter yesterday.

How cute is that??  She baked some bread and made it the shape of a bunny and filled the middle with some spinach artichoke dip.  I know there were many more details than that, but I just don’t know them all.  But it was so yummy.

And then there were these.

Are those adorable or what?  She carved all of those oranges and somehow left a handle but I don’t know how, and then filled them with fruit.  They were a treat to eat!

*Update* – Here are the directions from the recipe on how to cut the oranges.  For handle, score a 1/2 inch wide strip over the top of each orange.  Score peel from the base of the handle on one side to the opposite side.  Cut along scored lines with a sharp paring knife and remove peel.  Repeat on other side.  Using a paring or grapefruit knife and spoon, scoop out pulp from under handle and inside of basket.

Just had to share with y’all.  My Mom knocked it out of the park with the food as always.  Let’s give her a high 5!

Hope you all had a great Easter! :)

xxoo,

That bunny is adorable! I know what I’m making for next year’s Easter buffet. Does your mom send her catering out of state? (Like to AZ?)

I love those ideas. The little fruit cups are fantastic. I’ve only hollowed out a watermellon and filled it with fruit salad. Oranges are an awesome idea for individual fruit cups!

Now I see where you get your creativity, Emily!

That bunny is adorable!! I’ve never seen that done before. The orange baskets are cute too! My grandpa used to make a “basket” like that out of a watermelon and other fruits.

    Such talent in your family!!!

It was my first time going with Randy to one of hi It was my first time going with Randy to one of his gigs. This wasn’t just any gig though. It was a very special wedding for a beautiful couple.❤️

And after witnessing firsthand what all he does for events like this, I have a new appreciation for what he does because it is a LOT.🤯

From loading in setting up three PA systems in 3 separate areas, then immediately switching gears to performance mode and playing ceremony music + sax, dinner music + MC’ing, then reception DJ’ing + sax. It was really pretty freaking mind-blowing to be honest. And then you have to tear it all down! Talk about a full day (I felt hungover the next day and I don’t even drink), but if you are in the entertainment business you get it. And he does this multiple times a month!

So many moving parts, and being flexible when you need to switch gears at the last minute, and he handles it with so much ease. That’s why he’s the professional at his craft.🫶

I was just there more as his emotional support person, but would love to do more events with him where I’m actually useful. 🤪Maybe I’ll learn to wrap up cords the right way one day to his liking, but that’s doubtful. 🤣

It was the perfect new year’s day and can’t wait to do it again!❤️

Congrats @claudine.said and @chefaustinsimmons it was a JOY witnessing your special day.

3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔 Does life mo 3 years without Daddy and Pawpaw💔

Does life move on?

Yes, but not without a hazy fog lingering over you that never fully lifts.

Not without the deep ache in your heart longing for more time.

Not without reaching for your phone wanting to call or text.

Not without the family gatherings knowing someone is missing, even though no one mentions it.

Not without crying when you think of him or look at old photos.

I still cannot talk about him without tearing up. Certain songs or sayings break me.

After losing a parent, everything looks different. Time with your family begins to feel more intentional, because you want the moments to last.

The hustle feels less important, because you realize your people matter more than any dollar amount.

Grief and gratitude can coexist. It’s okay to be sad, and it’s okay to be thankful for a dad who is worth missing.❤️
