Happy Friday friends! Today I am happy to share with y’all how you can have an all natural first aid kit on hand to treat all of those ailments that might come up! And if you have kiddos you know what I’m talkin’ about. I can attest that all of these treatments work. Well, we […]
I’ve had a Groupon account forever, but never have bought anything. My husband has though. But for some reason their site I didn’t really care for so I never browsed it much. And I never saw a deal that I had to have. But when I started with LivingSocial which is another daily deal site, […]
I had good intentions to show you something new today. Really, I did. But you know what? I’m tired. I just recently finished TWO room makeovers in less than 2 months. That’s kind of unheard of coming from me because I sometimes move at snails pace. The first makeover was of course the bathroom that […]
Well this is kind of old school, but also kind of new school because of the equipment used, but stay with me here. As you all know, we have been working feverishly in my daughter’s bedroom trying to give her a makeover. We needed some art and I wanted something different, so that brilliant DecorMan […]
Oh goodness what a treat y’all are in for today!! And once you get me excited about something I can’t help but talk about it and shout it from the rooftops because I really do want to empower you to learn about essential oils and all of the amazing benefits they offer. You can read […]
Hi guys! I wanted to pop in real quick and let you all know about a special Valentine’s Day promotion Young Living is having until February 9! Learn more about essential oils here, and you can order here (remember to sign up as a distributor to take advantage of the wholesale pricing)….Please click over to read this full post about the benefits of Ylang Ylang and Geranium and another FREE offer!
It’s one of those decisions every parent faces when their kids hit age 5 or 6. Which school will they attend? Do we send them to public school, pay for private school, or homeschool? And many people start thinking of these types of things much earlier, like when they are 3 and 4 years old. Especially if they know they want them to attend a private school because they need to get on “the list.” You know, that exclusive list that is ultimately going to cost a fortune for you each month.
It’s a tough decision. And one that we are facing here soon, like this Fall.
It’s funny because 10 years ago if you would have asked me if I would be a homeschooling mama I would have laughed in your face. Loudly.
Little did you all know I have been working on a bathroom makeover over here! I’ve had a lot of things going on actually. And on overload. But that’s a good thing right? Well anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever even shown you all this bathroom. It’s the powder bathroom (that is by the mudroom) that was still under the curse of builder beige.
Anyway, I am going to show you a sneak peek of the bathroom makeover now, and on Monday you will see this room in it’s entirety with plenty of before and afters and I’m so excited about it!
Here’s a peek of the new vanity, and you can enter the giveaway HERE.
Part of the goal for 2014 is to be sure and update you all on projects and other random things I have talked about here. I just want to be better at that. And one of the many questions I receive weekly is how I am liking the LG Wave HE Top loader machine!
We’ve accumulated a few pieces of IKEA’s furniture pieces as of late, and I needed the matching paint for it so I can do a few customizations to these pieces. A few secret projects up my sleeve. Don’t you hate that? Anyway, I decided to do the hard work for you and take a piece of the furniture into Sherwin Williams so they can color match it up. You’re welcome.
Call me crunchy, call me crazy, or call me cookoo. But I really can’t get enough of these essential oils. So much in fact that I agreed to participate in my bestie’s (Myra) Day in the Life of an Oiler blogging series! And if you are visiting from The Ordinary Chaos, welcome, I’m so glad you are here! Continue reading to see my daily routine and how I use my essential oils.
I hope you’ve all had a great week! It has been nutty around here, and I’ll just say we’ve been using our essential oils like crazy! Mercy. Anyway, I’m sure that one thing we all have in common besides pretty home stuff is good cooking! Ok, maybe not all of you, but some of you? Or maybe you want to cook more, cook better, or just have pretty cookware to make it look like you cook amazing food? Well, that’s cool too.
Cooking in cast iron is the best way to cook I think, and I just loooooove my dutch ovens. I have 2. And I wouldn’t mind having more. My dutch ovens are cast iron coated with enamel, so when I saw MyHabit had great sales on these for a few days, I had to show you.
I hope you all have had a fabulous holiday break and hope the new year is off to a good one! I am very excited to get back into my routine around here. And today, I am thrilled to tell you all about Young Living Essential Oils. This is a nasty time of year with everyone sick. Like, everyone! But, there is a way to combat it and stay healthy while putting pure ingredients into your body–not synthetic OTC medicine.
I decided to ditch the new year’s resolutions because they will in fact be forgotten. But the one thing that won’t be forgotten are God’s promises.
I am sure most of you are not on the internets today as it’s the day before Christmas Eve, but I’m throwing up a quick post anyway, and to wish you all a merry Christmas! We had some family pictures taken back in November and I wanted to show you a few.
We had some silly ones…
This will be the last giveaway of this year, and it’s a goodin’ from The Home Depot of $200 + some cleaning supplies! Plus, there is also an amazing sweepstakes of $5,000 that you can enter to win also!
Hey guys, my hubby is posting today since he’s the genius behind making our garage amazing, so enjoy! Hello everyone. I’m Emily’s husband and she asked me to share with y’all my experience installing our Flow Wall storage and organization system. (Please see the makeover post for the before and afters) I’ll be the first one to tell you that I shudder at the thought of putting things together. I have spent countless hours putting together things like swedish furniture, shelves and entertainment systems, staring blankly at hundreds of parts that look NOTHING like the crude illustrations on the poorly written instructions I am trying to decipher. For an ADD/OCD person like me, I’m not lovin’ it. I am very pleased to announce that the Flow Wall system was the easiest, most well documented system I have ever had the pleasure to build. I was left with a sense of pride and accomplishment when I was finished, which is very rare for my OCD.
Hi all! I get to share some of my favorite things with you all today, courtesy of Melissa from 320 Sycamore’s ever popular My Favorite Things Party! I love sharing things I love at any time of the year, but I don’t talk about makeup and clothes here that often. And since I am a girl, I do love those things. I love a lot of things actually. It was hard narrowing down my top 10! If you are coming from Infarrantly Creative, welcome! I’m so glad you are here to see what I found intriguing this past year. :)
And now presenting my top 10 favorite things from 2013 in no particular order…
We have a lot of good shopping in Houston. High end to low end, you name it, we probably have it. Except we don’t have In and Out Burger. What a shame. I love shopping though, duh, and I love finding new resources on good places to do it at! You all know I love thrift stores and antique shopping, so when asked if I wanted to try out the Bing Smart Search app I said sure, sign me up!
I wanted to get inspired and find some new antique stores in the Houston area so that’s what I searched for. The interface was really easy and it came up with pretty results!
Down here in good ole Texas we don’t have crazy winters or anything. I wish sometimes we did, but then again I don’t see how people up north live day to day in knee-deep snow so it’s probably a good thing I’m in the South. That doesn’t mean though we don’t use our fireplaces every opportunity we get! I promise you the moment it hits 59 degrees here, all chimneys here in the South are just-a roaring.
With that said, most of you will know I don’t have a fireplace in our home, but my mom does so I went and did her a favor and cleaned out her fireplace that hasn’t been cleaned out in about 20 years! Yes, I am, quite the awesome daughter.
We’re kicking off the first of December with a new wreath I recently made and I think it’s one of my most favorite wreaths ever! Really! It’s a Christmas ornament wreath, and it’s all shiny and silver and makes me happy.
Hey Friends, I know it’s not Friday today, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great sales to be had from Silhouette! This just happens to be their biggest sale of the year, so I want to let you know about their great promotion.
Happy Thanksgiving all! I just wanted to pop in real quick and let you all in on some amazing sales from MyHabit. Lots of items (and designer items) are up to 90% off! I let you all know about MyHabit a while back, which is a flash sale site on Amazon. And I know you all love Amazon!
Some of my favorite gifts I have received have been kitchen items. They are typically very useful and practical, and can be pretty! Did you all know The Home Depot carries kitchen products? They actually carry oodles of things that I wasn’t aware of. But when I saw while shopping online all of the great kitchen things I was amazed!
I have some BIG news today friends!! Over the past several weeks my husband and I have been working like crazy people giving our garage an overhaul! More so my husband, since I still went to bed at usual time while he stayed up late in the garage. Bless him.
Remember three years ago I wrote a post on our horrific garage? Well fast forward 3 years and it only got worse. Much worse. But I’m happy to report it is amazing now!!
Woohoo happy Friday!! I’m just a little excited today. Why? Because I get to sit back and relax and let someone else do my cleaning now! That someone just happens to be a new little iRobot friend.
The other day I went into the dollar store for something else other than wreath supplies, but when I saw all of these pretty and sparkly stems they had, I couldn’t resist. And this new gold leaf Christmas wreath was born.
One of the things about blogging is that you always are discovering new companies and shops, and of course blogs! I think it’s a great thing to get out there and support the hand-made shops especially, because those items are made with love, and most likely from a person just like you and me. And we all need support right? :) When Stephanie from Ooh Baby Designs contacted me about a giveaway, I took a look at her Etsy shop and fell IN LOVE! I couldn’t believe I haven’t run into her before while browsing around.
Hello everyone! Man I am still recovering from my trip last week and also recovering from being really sick so I didn’t get many projects done over the weekend needless to say. But today I do have a fabulous giveaway from The Vintage Pearl which I know you all are crazy about!
Hi friends happy Monday! I’ve got the best project for you today. And it would make a perfect gift. At least I would like to receive it anyway. :) I am participating in Lindsay from Makely Home’s Knocktoberfest party this week, so I decided to knock off a chalkboard cutting board from World Market. And if you are visiting from Infarrantly Creative, I’m so glad you stopped by!
Now say hello to this new cutie living in our kitchen.
I have a very cute craft today and one that really surprised me! Every time I use my Silhouette machine I’m amazed. I’m amazed at what it can do. And how quickly it gets it done. And there is an incredible deal Silhouette is offering this month. It’s like a HUGE amount of items and product that’s included in the bundles this month, so keep reading for that. But first, my easy DIY printable magnets.
Hope you all had a good weekend! I actually took my own advice that I gave to my Facebook fans and painted some more interior doors. And I can’t believe I haven’t done this sooner. Seriously. It was super quick and made a huge impact. So which ones did I do?
Well I painted the inside of our front door…
Happy Friday friends I hope you’ve had a good week! I have talked about sleeping on the blog a few times already. I love to sleep. Probably more than most people. I take naps whenever I can and that’s pretty frequently. We got a new bed here, and then talked about the benefits of magnesium in this post which helps for a good night’s sleep, and today I want to share something else that has rocked our world.
I know that y’all know what I do, obviously. I do fun stuff to our house and write about it and you all get to hear about it. But what you don’t hear about probably often enough is what goes on behind the scenes, and HOW I am actually able to write about everything and have it disperse on the www. I just felt in my spirit today to give a little recognition to the guy who actually makes that all possible…
I wanted to update you all with how our life has changed with new lights. Really. Might sound silly but I promise you it’s the truth. *Spoiler-giveaway at the bottom of post* About a month ago I showed you all where we installed a Lutron Maestro Occupancy Sensor dimmer switch in our hallway, which is now a cool striped mudroom! I loved it then and living with it a month or so, I love it even more.
Oh my goodness everyone are y’all in for a treat today!! Remember when I finally got my dream white kitchen makeover at the beginning of the year? And remember those gorgeous new countertops? Well, the awesome team at Formica wants to make one of your dreams come true and provide you with new countertops from their 180fx® line! I know, seriously amazing. When we were ironing out the details for this kitchen countertop makeover giveaway, I was in awe by their generosity and so excited that y’all have the chance to win a makeover!
Happy Wednesday! Have you ever given your home a grade, or kept score on what all projects need to get done? You know, the not-so-fun projects, but the ones that are a necessity to keep your home in 1 piece and running smoothly? Yea, those. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the best at it. One reason being is because our home was the basic builder brand new home when we moved in. It’s hard to believe we’ve been here 5 years already! So I’ve kind of taken that for granted assuming all is well. Yes, I’m intelligent.
Hi all! Hope you’re having a great week so far! I am so thrilled to show you all a little crafty project I completed the other day with my Silhouette machine. I made a monogram stamp! I think it’s the coolest thing ever.
Woohoo it’s Friday! I have a fun barn door hardware giveaway to share with you all today from Rolling Door Designs.
Well guys, today’s post I’ve been very excited to share with you all. You might think I’m nuts, and that’s okay, but it’s these types of makeovers that change your life that are the best ones. When I posted about losing all of 75 lbs of the baby weight a few months back (which I consider one of my best makeovers), something else happened too. Another life process. One of those things in life that you just usually find a reason to put off for years and can make up all sorts of good excuses, and justifiable ones at that! But, I’m thrilled to say that I quit making excuses and made this happen….my smile makeover with new porcelain veneers and crowns.
That may not be the most exciting title you’ve ever seen, but trust me, it’s exciting. Why? Because I replaced a regular light switch in our hallway with a Lutron Maestro Occupancy Sensor dimmer switch! Why is this exciting? Because it’s hands free and we don’t have to physically turn on the lights anymore! When we walk in the hallway it detects motion and turns on like magic.
I get asked all the time how I cook my okra. Remember that okra I planted a few months ago in our garden? Man it has really taken off. And because of that we eat okra at least twice a week, sometimes 3. :) If you follow me on Instagram (@decorchick1) you’ve seen an okra picture probably more times than you care to. But, everyone always asks how I make it, and one of my favorites is roasted okra with Rosemary. Mmmm!
Well yesterday I was on a roll doing a few projects, cleaning the garage, taking care of the garden etc, and then I also got a wild hair and tried painting stripes on a wall. I’ve been wanting to do them for a while and nothing like family coming into town to get your rear in gear. And in my case practically redoing 3 rooms in 1 week. Not really. But sort of.
Anyway…my striping attempt numero uno was a fail.
Hi all hope you had a lovely weekend! Mine was very productive so that’s always a good feeling. You know I’m all about a little DIY right? DIY or DIH, meaning, do it herself. I went to a DIH workshop a few weeks ago at The Home Depot and wanted to tell you all about it. I love how they empower the ladies to take on those pesky DIY projects. :)
Since being back from the Haven Conference and reminiscing while looking at the photos from it, I can’t help but wonder why in several of the pictures I’m flashing gang signs and making my best duck face?
Hey guys! I needed another mental break day after getting back from the Haven conference and I can’t wait to show you all a few pics from it. But today, I want to show you the world’s easiest chalkboard. Like ever in the history of DIY. Why? Because it’s just chalkboard vinyl! (If you are reading in a reader, click over to enter the giveaway)
Hey everyone! I’ve been busy this week getting ready to head out to Atlanta, but this is a post I’ve been meaning to write for a few months now. Remember when I finally shed all of my baby weight (all 75 pounds of it!), several of you would ask me what I ate etc, and I posted a few of my food diaries in those posts too so you could see what I ate on a day to day basis. Now that it’s past me and the weight is off, I’ve still managed to keep it all off, and have even lost about 7-10 lbs more since that post. Woohoo! But since this isn’t a perfect world and there are going to be times when you are out and about and you need to grab a bite to eat, or if you just want to go to a nice dinner with your family or something, I wanted to tell you what my 7 favorite places to eat out are, and are places where you have the option to eat well and have it taste good! Even better.
Hey all! I wanted to ask quickly how many of you will be in Atlanta next week at the Haven conference?
You know, that mom who lets their kids have a million toys and vowed to never let toys overtake their house because the clutter would drive her insane and she truly believed in the whole less is more thing when it comes to kids and toys.
Have you ever heard of a WoCave, actually pronounced “wo-cah-vay?” I haven’t either but it sure sounds enticing. We’ve all heard of man-caves, but what about us? What about the women? We need our own little spaces too right? A place to escape from the craziness of the day (or our kids) and just chill. YES, please.
Happy Monday everyone hope you had a good weekend! I’ve been pondering painted interior doors for quite some time now, so I’m finally coming to you all to help me make a decision. I’m going to do this, and wanted to do it yesternow, but I just couldn’t decide. I love it when I see other people paint their interior doors black and think it looks so sharp. Why haven’t I jumped on the bandwagon yet?! I think I’m going to start by painting our pantry door in the white kitchen, so keep that in mind. If all goes well, then I’ll do the rest. :)
Hi friends! I very much enjoyed our July 4th holiday and am ready to get back to business. I hope you had a good one too! If you follow me on Instagram you know we had Ellie’s 1 year old party over the weekend! It was so much fun. I will talk about the party later this week, but today I have to show off the rockstar rose/rosette cake my mom made.
Hey hey it’s going to be a light week around here so lucky for you there’s so great deals going on! I posted about the $250 Home Depot giveaway a few days ago (be sure and enter!) and today’s giveaway is a Silhouette Portrait machine w/ Designer Edition! Ding ding!
You know those jobs around your house that you know need to get done, but just never get done? You know the ones I’m talking about. Cleaning your tile grout falls into that category. It’s definitely considered a dirty job too, since I just did ours. See our tile in the kitchen? ……(Readers reading in a reader click over to enter the giveaway)
Ever wonder what everyone did before Pinterest came around? Oh yea, we probably had lives! But really, do you ever think about it? Do you ever think about how blogging as a whole changed completely? And for you readers who don’t have a blog, it’s different for you too. Maybe you see all of these crazy “pin it” buttons around everyone’s blog posts and wonder what in the world is going on. I know I did at first.
But there’s another aspect of Pinterest I want to talk about today and not how blogging is so different these days (even though that’s the truth). But why does it seem everything is Pinterest-perfect these days?
